Hello All
I have a 2021 Autotrail Delaware automatic . The Autotrail web site weight calculator says my van has a pay load of 580kg . Has anyone who has got a Delaware ever put it on a weighbridge and if so what did it weigh empty please ?
I am intending taking It to a weighbridge but thought I would ask you if anyone had done the excercise. Any assistance greatly appreciated. 🙏

If you bought it secondhand, please be aware of any extras that the previous owners may have added, as that will reduce your available payload :)

Take it to a weighbridge!

I suspect you will find you do not have anything even close to half a tonne of payload capacity!

Ideally you should have got a recent weighbridge certificate before handing over any money!

FYI:
For calculation purposes a litre or diesel or water weighs 1KG.
A litre of LPG is about 0.5kg
You will need about 400kg of payload for 2 people

The weight calculator has it at 3900kg with empty fresh water tank so a bit of a fatty and really needs to go to a weighbridge in your touring state (hopefully you're on the 4500kg base as not sure how the 3650kg version would work?)

Two adults, two kids and a full tanks and you'd not have an awful lot left already.

Yes you are quite right Dunnah01 we are on a 4500kg max weight with a 6000kg train weight .

Hi HKF
we have had the van since new . We added a truma Hab air con and a tow bar so I am guessing that’s already eaten 100kg of our original payload. 🤦‍♂️

That should give you plenty of wriggle room to travel with loads of extra stuff (y)
For 2 people, it's probably ok (although Lenny will disagree). But you won't be able to go nuts. You'll have to watch the axle weights.

If you take a bigger family though, it'll get tight very quickly.

4500kg for 2 people is plenty. Probably close to 1T of payload if measured in manufacturer kgs :ROFLMAO:

I suspect it'll actually be a lot less than 580kg to take it over the limit though. As mentioned, it's probably got some options and extras. And many vans are a bit more portly than their manufacture claims. And the only way to hit the 4500kg limit is if you maximimse both axle loads, which is very difficult. Every 1kg you put in the garage will add more than a kg to the rear axle. It's probably OK, but you wouldn't be able to take a second BBQ.

I was worried about our Vantage Neo @3500 so I up plated it to 4250. Fully loaded with every nook and cranny rammed for our five month winter trip in Spain, fully fuelled and watered I ran it over a weighbridge with my darling carer with me and it came out @3720 so I was very happy with that and think we can quite easily trim it down to 3500 if needed but you must weigh it to check 👍

The A/T calculator already allows for extras and 100kg for each bod in the moho so will be fine unless the garage is rammed with cr@p

Pretty much the same as our experience with our 4250kg moho. We came in at around 3700kg in full fighting trim with over 400kg spare on the rear axle.

I think you will be very close if not over with an empty water tank and before you fill it with fuel:oops2::oops2:

Hi All
Firstly thank you for all your advice and comments .
Today I took our MH to a public weighbridge and I was surprised at the results.
Our van is a 2021 Autotrail Frontier Delaware . It has the 9 speed Auto gearbox which we knew was heavier than the manual . We also had a factory fit witter tow bar fitted and a dealer fitted Truma habitation air conditioning unit . This replaced the Omnevent that comes as standard. We weighed it with a full tank of diesel , 2 x 6kg of calor gas which are new and full . No water , no waste but a full reservoir of Ad Blue and screen wash. Everything else that was not in the van when it came from the factory was removed.
The GVW plate of the van says 4500kg with a train weight of 6000kg.
The van weighed 3650kg . I was delighted with that especially as we know we had already eaten into our pay load with the tow bar and air con .Incidentally I also weighed ( separately ) our Hyundai I 10 N Line . That is the heaviest i10 available . We had half a tank of fuel and the towing A frame in the boot . It weighed 1040kg.I hope you find this info useful.

The '21 Delaware is fully loaded including wifi, TV & extra leisure battery, this will all be included in the Mass in Service (minus the 28kg for the 2 x 6kg gas bottles). Remember too that 75kg for the driver & 81 litres of fuel is also included. Enjoy!

Thank you Jonno very kind. I was expecting a lot lower payload. You hear some horror stories about payloads so yes , I am very happy 👍

It’s a good idea for people going to France and Spain to make sure they are not overweight. There are more Police checks on the roadside this days.I was stopped last week coming out of Germany into Alsace and the Police was stopping every vans and motorhomes. I was directed onto a weighbridge and happy to be within my limit or it would have been the end of the trip!

sorry, new to all of this. Don't get the van until the end of January. What is a/t calculator?
Hi The Autotrail calculator is on their website. You can enter the model you are interested in and it tells you what your expected payload should be . In fairness mine is almost spot on 👍🏻
