Good morning everyone, I'm sure many of you funsters have a tracker fitted to your motorhome so can anyone advise a good tracker that does not cost too much and has not got silly monthly fees.
Thanks in advance
Anthony

I'm not sure if an insurance approved 'free' tracker exists? The problem is you have to pay someone/a company to actually do the tracking. It's all bit of a con really. The only reason insurance insist on it for vans over a certain price is it means they can get the van back to you more easily, regardless of what state its in and don't have to pay for a new vehicle. We are in effect paying a subscription fee to help the insurance company save money.

Do you want an insurance approved tracker or just a tracker for your own peace of mind?

Hi, yes it's just for my own piece of mind.
My motorhome is in storage but is very safe but it's approximately 8 miles away so just for me to check daily really.
Thanks
Anthony

Same as Lenny, I have fitted and use one of these.

It has online in real-time tracking for the PC or your mobile phone, which is useful if you forget where you have parked your MH, and yes I have used it for that. :ROFLMAO:

I was looking at them yesterday, do they use much power from battery as mine is in storage and I only use it probably twice a month?
Thanks again

It draws virtually no power, the specs say - At 12V < 5 mA (Ultra Deep Sleep), At 12V < 9 mA (Deep Sleep) At 12V < 11 mA (GPS Sleep) ,At 12V < 26 mA (nominal)

I fitted the TruTrak one last weekend and they rang me on Monday to say they’d altered one of the settings on it to register that it was connected to the leisure battery circuit. It isn’t but the way the MPPT charge controller operates for my solar panels and vehicle battery means the voltage intermittently changes up and down by a few volts. Lorraine also walked me through “geofences” and all sorts of other settings so I’d get optimum use from it. I think that’s outstanding service! Costs £100/year for first year then around £4/month after 1st 12 months for ongoing tracking. You can see where you’re vehicle is to within 0.5m on the phone app that comes with the tracker. You can track how it got there with a 24 hour track feature, it’s pretty easy to use too. If you pm me I can suggest some good places to hide it!
Cheers!

Depends on just what you want it to do.

If you are reasonably good with technical stuff, then one of these
will sit in a motorhome quietly waiting for you to send it a text (or a phone call) asking where it is. It wll then send you a text back with a link to Google maps. (no app or tracking service needed)

If you are a even better with technical stuff, then the options are endless. Rewire used to use them on their accounts. A really brilliant bit of kit.

or, one of these
Easier to connect to 12volt and will also monitor your battery level remotely.
my leisure battery is currently 13084 mV

But more complicated to use.

I second that, I have one and find to very good also and probably more important the customer service is exemplary. Man of these are made by a company called Teltonica and rebranded for the reseller so customer service is crucial. I would recommend looking at the Trutrack website.

Hi . I have a Tracker Nano. It's a self install so not recognised by insurance companies but it gives me peace of mind.

Yes, The Rewire DB2 is what I've just fitted as a replacement for an older one. Rewire are one of the best company's I've used for providing support, amazed by how quickly they respond to any real or perceived issues.

The Tracker Nano is recognised by Trinity Lane (via Adrian Flux) as I've just had one supplied by them as part of the premium.

However for my own use in tracking my vehicles I have used one of these in various vehicles. These are simple to install and seem to work well, they do need a SIM card purchasing and keeping paid-up.

Thank you for information. I will look into these and I also have a 1998 Audi before cabriolet that's insured with Adrian Flux so that will be helpful to purchase for both 👍
