I cocked up royally and although I drained down etc I forgot to open the kitchen tap. Needless to say, with all the cold weather the tap has been damaged by expanding water (ice) and needs to be replaced. Looking at a like-for-like it's over £100!!, yet barring the tails appears to be a standard tap.

I am on a pressure switch system so no micro switches in the taps.

Has anyone replaced the kitchen tap for a normal one by swapping over the tails from the existing one as this appears to be a ridiculously inflated price for a tap, the equivalent of which for a home is about £40.

Many thanks.

Are you sure it’s not just the cartridge that went, these are under £20 and normally the cause of a leak after freezing.

Forgot to add the photo, this is what your cartridge will look like.

Just quick search on amazon, you’ll find them elsewhere.

No it's actually the plastic chrome collar that holds the swan neck in place. This is shattered and the swan neck had popped out. It's pretty broken unfortunately.

Based in Ireland - lots of difficulty getting the cartridges and/or the tap and it happend to me twice so in the end I ordered a converter from amazon - link - that was John guest 1/2"BSP to 12mm and like some other purchasers I got 3/4"BSP to 12mm so just got a fitting for 2 quid from screwfix to go from 1/2 to 3/4. Bought a tap from B&Q and fitted it. So far so good and a lot easier to interface with now that it's normal household plumbing. Like you I am pressure based so had no issue with micro switches.

The bathroom tap in my Rapido started leaking a few years ago, I replaced it with an ordinary domestic unit from B&Q at a fraction of the price Rapido were quoting.
The only modification needed was a slight increase in the diameter of the existing hole to allow the B&Q unit to fit.
Everything is perfect since.

My bathroom tap in the Motorhome is now a nice ‘non motorhome’ one from Screwfix… can’t remember if I utilised existing tails, but they are all pretty generic…
