I was involved in an accident yesterday evening on a country road near home. Having slowed down to 15mph (on a bend) with trees on nearside a Volvo car caught the offside trim and the motorhome trim has been scuffed (not bent or split) and a low trim light broken off!! No injuries!

Can someone advise how to remove scuff marks and also what this small orange side light is called - for purchasing a replacement?

Thanks

Yep, had to be a Volvo didn’t it. Had one write my brand new car off when it flew around a bend at speed and straight into me stationary as I had been looking across the hedge and saw its roof in the distance, but his speed meant coming around the corner too far over and bye bye broom broom.

Hope you get it sorted out ok 👍🏻

Not nice, but try this G3 Pro scratch remover. Use it quite a lot on a Land Rover that gets plenty of hedge row damage. Take a little time but use with a damp cloth and see what you can polish out.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

If the dark marks are from his wheel rubber or even black plastic wheel-arch trim, maybe a road-tar remover could disolve it off.

One other thing, If you do use a machine polisher go very gentle because you can burn the plastic due to heat. If you are near to a marina they might know a boat owner who would help you out. These guys are normally very good with any plastic/grp body.

Plus one for G3 Pro. I got a bunch of scuff marks and scrapes on my arch and skirt after a moment with a boy racer on the twisty Isle of Skye road up to the fairy pools.

It more of less cleaned it all up but took some time and effort. If you zoom in closely you can see a couple of gouges on the arch and trim that were left behind but G3 Pro done a great job.

Sorry I don’t have a before picture to compare.

FYI

A defective side marker light is an MOT failure.
Oh no it isn’t!
I had this very conversation with my MOT man Monday!
If it was a commercial vehicle then yes, a fail. A private vehicle ( even though mine is classed as a private HGV ) it isn’t a fail. Not even an advisory.

Thanks. 👍

I have a service/MOT contract for my Crafter campervan. I take it to VW main dealers for the MOT. It failed on a running light out!
It needed replacing anyway so they did it before I collected the van.

When I checked the invoice at home, they’d charged for the new part but no labour, so that’s a little win.

Alternative point of view is - Some years ago somebody ran in to the back of my Volvo 740 (fitted with a towbar)

The front of his car was a right mess. I never did find any scratches on the Volvo.

I had a similar problem and removed most of the black marks with a car tar remover spray and the rest with a t cut polish. Hope this is useful

Hope you got his details and reported him to the police.

If he doesn't pay up for the damage repair then small claims court.

I am glad no one hurt.

Update. A lot of the trim has been cleaned with Tcut, thankfully. However, the trim around the side light is broken and cracked!

Does anyone know the part number from Prima for a replacement, or does anyone know where I can get a new one apart from Prima?

Thanks,

It's a marker light, lots on eBay etc.
A body shop would sort that out or to diy, give it a polish and see what the damage is and whether you feel you can fix with rattle cans ?
I used gorilla handwipes on a hire car in the US.

Had the same black makes and with 2 course of rubbing I managed to get the black marks off and it looked good in the end
