I need to bring my motorhome to the airport to meet someone. The last time this was posted about was 4 years ago so I'm wondering whether anything's changed, especially whether motorhomes are accepted (small, 6m and <3m high), and whether there is any height restriction?

The plan is:
When friend's flight arrives you go to Mid-stay car park; park free for one hour, £5 for the next hour, £30 thereafter.
Catch the free shuttle bus. Meet them and return to MH.
Thank you kindly.

Easier to park away from the airport
Your friend phones when they have got through passport control, they then catch the bus to one of the car parks (but obviously tells you which) they get off bus at car park and walks out of car park, where you meet them. You don't actually drive into the car park!

Have you actually done that? I've read of lots of tales about CCTV catching people who stop on double yellows to drop someone off / pick someone up and get a fine in the post.

There is a Mc Donald’s, BP fuel station, and a Starbucks opposite the mid stay, just two mins walk away
Apparently the access is tight for a motorhome and the penalties for overstaying high, so I'd prefer to drive into the Mid-stay car park if they accept motorhomes.

Nope access to all the services are normal , don’t know if the mid stay is height barred
Round the back of the BP station is a lorry sized parking lot , all the area is timed so don’t exceed the stated times
The APNR problem for pick up is a staff only drop zone. Various dopey people ignore the signage ( which is huge) , but this is no where near the mid stay it’s against the train line near the Hampton Hotel

check out the train line that serves the airport, pick a stop away from it, and arrange to meet up there😉
Airports are always a nightmare for parking/stopping and Stansted is one of the worst.

I forgot to mention that the person that I am meeting is a stranger to our country and needs to be met at the terminal, so I need to park and go there. This rules out the BP petrol station idea unfortunately.

I decided to do a test run today. I drove into Mid Stay car park and parked without a hitch. And left without a hitch before my free hour was up. My MH fits within the width of the parking lines, I would imagine that anything wider might attract attention.
So now, thanks to Park4Night I'm enjoying time at the Three Horseshoes, near Sawbridgworth ready for nipping to the airport tomorrow.

Told you 😊, if you need more waiting time you could use back of BP across the road
Have fun 😊

There's also a muddy patch by the side of the road on the outskirts of the airport filled with 3 or 4 taxis waiting for their arrivals x:-)
