swift edge 494
Hi guys , new to Motorhoming, first Motorhome is a swift edge 494 2020,
I’m 40 years old , 0 years Motorhome NCB , although 7 years on car , using for social only , kept on drive with security ie wheel clamp , wheel lock , thatcham approved tracker and imobiliser , no driving convictions , requested fully comp and I’m being quoted £1000 cheapest , does this seem right as it seems average Moho insurance is £3-500 , im thinking maybe it’s the £1000 as i have no NCB, can anyone advise ? Many thanks in advance

Seems a lot to me.
Where have you tried for quotes ?
AIB and Comfort are specialist motorhome brokers and both popular on here.
I don't think any will use your car NCB but AIB will look at your record and if claim free will take it into account
I'd be inclined to try them.

Compare sites are no good for motorhomes, have a look in the resources section on this forum, reviews and recommendations in there…😎

I’ve posted this elsewhere recently so it’s relevant:

“After obtaining a few different quotes for Mrs Orion’s impending car insurance renewal, and finding they are all within a £15 spread, I did the same for the soon to be delivered MoHo.

Obviously all the brokers/insurers were provided with the same details which briefly are: Late 60’s 2 drivers, (myself as main with no direct NCB to transfer but 20+ years as named driver plus company fleet driving with no claims), in a ‘safe’ semi-rural postcode with off-road parking for new £90k value Fiat/Adria van with all the reversing, dashcam and Vanbitz gizmos fitted. Quotes that came back were all fully comp, protected NCB and more or less the same Euro cover and excesses - no breakdown or additional personal cover required.

Here’s how they stacked up:

NFU £1121
Safeguard. £802
Caravan Guard £677
AIB £506
Comfort £483
LV £352”

All were phone quotes. LV use the base vehicle only for the quotation ie ‘Fiat, Motorcaravan, Ducato 2.2, etc. and we’re not interested in alarm or tracker installation.

I have been with Adrian Flux for 10yrs now and always found them brilliant to do business with. Last 3yrs no increase on premium.
