Motorhome insurance for over 80s

Peter Best Insurance Services acting as a broker for LV= but I think they said there was a limit of 80 when I renewed. LV= were adamant that they would not insure directly through them when I approached them as I was 80.

CAMC used to insure over 80s but not sure whether they still do. Got to be worth trying.

We have a policy through Comfort my husband was 80 last August and I am 78 not had a problem yet

Thanks for the replies so far. At least I now know I have some options. Insurance not due till next year but I normally book my tunnel crossings before the end of this year and I wanted to be as sure as I can be, before I commit.

I'm 84 and with Caravan Guard. Car insured with AA but a lot more per annum than Caravan Guard for same mileage and a lot less value. It says to me that the car insurance companies and the repairers are getting away with murder and the Ombudsman does nothing about it.

I’m 80 next May, insured with CaravanGuard for the last 5 years with no issues. No mention yet of an6 restrictions for over 80s!
They were also cheaper at renewal than any others on comparison sites.

The only insurer I could get to look at me was Sabre but the premium meant I will be selling the motorhome in the New Year as it is into 5 figures!

We are with NFU, their cut off age is 81, but they told me that as long as we do not have a break in our insurance then they will cover us both. If we cancel a policy they will not renew it.

Now 85 and I have just changed broker's to Grove & Dean from AIB . AIB renewal £599:00 . Grove & Dean £370:00 with L&V . -Highways insurance. Quote from CAMC £774:00. its a nightmare.!

I’m 82 and my insurance is with the Camping and caravan club , I’m not a member, but they have my insurance with Devitt insurance and I’ve just renewed at £224.

We are with All Clear
They were very helpful and even offered us a 45 day deal.
Mike is 81, I am 79
Both of had to declare some medical history but we were very pleased with the response

That's interesting, does the Camping & Caravan Club have the same insurance company as C&MH Club?

I thought their Insurers were Devitts?
I could be wrong of course?

Thanks to everyone who has responded. I now feel confident that I will get insurance when the time comes so I will go ahead with the financial commitment in booking channel crossings etc and take the risk.

Continuity seems to be the key. My husband is turning 87, but because our van was already insured with Flux there has never been any problem. However, when we thought of changing the car insurance, no-one but his existing company would entertain the idea. Worth checking you’re with one who will still cover you when the time comes, maybe?
