Did you sell through this broker? I'm trying to find out what commission they charge but they make no mention of it on their site, that I can see anyway.

There are two, motorhome depot, and motorhome department, I dealt through the latter when we sold our last van and was completely satisfied with him, didn't work on percentage wise ,more I told him what I wanted and left him to it, took him a while but ended up with what I wanted which was at least 2 grand more than I could get anywhere else, I got 18 grand and he sold it for 20, if anyone needs anymore info just ask.

Not heard of MH Department? Their website throws up phishing and virus alarms so I can't check it

So they essentially agree a price that you are happy with and give you that when it sells? Do they take it away or sell it from your home like Depot do?

He does either, he has a yard behind the garden centre on the roundabout in Newport near Stafford, his name's Chris, we left ours on his forecourt as we didn't need it as we had another, don't know about his website though, havnt had any contact with him for a couple of years so things might have changed, I will check it out.

Its a win win. Basically they are an estate agency for vans. They list the buyers van on their platform and autotrader and sell on your behalf. It makes the process more secure and less risky however.
You are locked in with them for 3 months. If you sell privately you have to pay, if you part exchange with a dealer you have to pay, if they sell it you have to pay.
I believe its 10% as the fee (Charged to the seller not the buyer)

When we were selling our motorhome / RV these people phoned us and offered to sell if for us.
They wanted 10%
There T&C's show the fees.

When I was ill a while back I sold a couple of vans via an agent (same as motorhome depot) standard charge was 10%

If you look back , I actually put our van on here for 15000, and no takers, so I went to Chris and told him the same and he said he could get me more than that and he duly did, and we ended up with the same we paid for it three years earlier.
I can't fault him, and you all know, I don't say that very often.

We tried to sell our previous MH via Motorhome Depot - the way it worked was that we agreed a price with the local broker and they then advertised it at a price about £4k higher. At one point they reduced the advertised price, which I guess would have come out of their commission because they didn't ask us to reduce the price we'd agreed with them. Sadly it didn't sell (we thought it was probably over-valued) so we ended up part exchanging for our current MH.

Might work for sellers, sucks as a buyer, knowing that you could buy it for less if there wasn't someone skimming off the top who has no dog in the fight.

Saw 4 or 5 vans I was interested in, but I am never buying a high value item without dealing with the owner.
Bought from a dealer who was prepared to deal, and stand behind what he sold.

We tried selling via MH department. He didn't even get any enquiries that resulted in any offers and 1 yr later we got a fantastic deal from Go European and a trade in price more or less what Chris would have got for it.

Yeah I did say it took him a while, about 4months in our case and I was beginning to fear the worse but suddenly it all happened, no bother getting the money and no tyre kickers and as we already had our new van didn't want a part exchange.
And I don't want to keep bulling this bloke up as others might have had a different experience but he also sold my lads van for over thirty grand that I thought was a ridiculous price, that was actually more than he paid a year before.

Jim I sold my 2017 Globecar Campscout August last year with motorhom depot I told them what I wanted and they advertised it £3000 more, it works out at 6.666%.
They sold our van within a Month to the first couple that they bought to view the van, all very professionally done with no tyre kickers etc.
Motorhome depot were absolutely great all through the process, we had no stress whatsoever with our sale and we got exactly the sum we wanted.

Can honestly say that he Motorhome depot are useless at getting back to you! Tried to contact them regarding a Scout that is now advertised on Ebay (113905796401)...Sent emails and texts off Auto-trader...Still nothing! Should not bother Jim. Be careful!!

I had a fantastic experience of buying from Motorhome depot. They, or he, as it’s down to the “rep” you deal with, couldn’t have done enough to make the deal work for all three parties. Would happily use again.

I think that may be the issue? The fact that they have a number of reps . Some obviously care and others obviously don't?
I personally would rather deal with someone who is there when the phone call is made and not...after they have been to the pub as in my case! The dealer said quote" I am in the pub at the moment....I need a drink ! Can I call you back"? No was my answer and we moved on!

I sold my last van through MH Depot. It was an easy sale and found the rep very helpful. For those who are a little intimidated by the process of selling a high value vehicle, the help and assistance of a professional expert to take you through the whole thing is very useful. In my case, it was a lower value higher mileage vehicle, and it still was helpful. Those of you who are good at selling stuff might not need help. Sup to you.

When selling my parent's van Motorhome Depot said they had a local dealer within 15 miles they then cancelled the visit at very short notice due to the travelling and then suggested that they could take the van 150 miles away as it would be more convenient for them to sell.
Needless to say I sold it without them, from my experience they were not better than wheel kickers just wasted my time
