I'm a newbie. Is this book, or any similar one, any good? Do they offer any more info than is available on the Forums and the in the product User Manuals? The one area I'm thinking they might do, is an overview of motorhome maintenance? TIA Alan (y)

Sorry. Your link to the book didn't come up. It may be a very good book to have as a handy reference (can't tell without seeing it) but can't replace the information and help (and the laughs) you can get on here.

We did buy a couple of books from Vicarious Books before we started. The couple who own it are motorhomers and so really do know about it.
Can't remember what the titles are.

It looks quite good for the basics but every van is different.

If you need the confidence boost of having the book, then it's worth a tenner even if you only learn a couple of things from it.

the book in question is a 'motorhome manual' - i assume a very generic manual with no specific info relating to your actual motorhome

you can glean far more info from sites like this forum by reading EVERY post relating to your actual motorhome or equipment and viewing youtube for how to operate specific equipment if needed.

but as Janine suggests, if it helps build up some confidence, then compared to how much you are likely to pay for a motorhiome, then it might be money well spent

I’ve got all 3 copies of the Haynes Motorcaravan manual . Some of the information is repeated across them but I enjoyed reading them .

I have one bought for a £1 at charity booksale. I thought it was worthwhile reading to get a general understanding of how MHs work. Easier to read through than searching through threads here. However, for specific advice about a problem then you cannot beat asking on here. You can also glean a lot of knowledge just by reading through threads.
Sometimes it is better to get the knowledge before you get the problem :giggle:

Personally, I ask on here. There is always someone who is able to assist.
The thing about asking on here is it is not uncommon to get as many different answers to your question as funsters who reply - that and answers to questions you didn't even ask and more questions you didn't even know you had . . . . :giggle:

Bet the chapter entitled 'Known Faults and Issues with this Model' was an epic read ... :ROFLMAO:

after a while on here you get to know who to trust in the replies and theres also the ask the audience effect if 4 out of five give one answer it usually the right one
