Morning all,
Last october i bought a new Chausson 748EB the taxation class on this is HGV ! Tax is due in October! On the reminder it states i need an MOT for this vehicle ? I thought a new vehicle doesnt need a MOT for first 3 years? If it does need one can this be done at a normal test centre or does it have to go to a HGV Test centre

How much does it say it will cost?

ours is recorded as a PHGV and I think we pay £145 a year

sounds like a DVLA mistake, or wrong info given to them by dealer, I am presuming it is under 7500kg BTW 🤔

what weight is shown on V5?

Does it say 'private heavy goods' on the V5?
If it doesn't then someone at DVLA made a mistake on registration.
If it just says 'heavy goods vehicle' then there is the registration mistake.
I think commercial HGVs don't have the same 3 year exemption.
You need to contact DVLA.... And good luck with that.

Ours is classed as PHGV its 3800 kg just had first MOT this year (3 yr old) MOT is class 4 same as a car so could in theory be done at any MOT testing garage. The problem would be if the garage ramps etc are big enough to take your van. As previously said, sounds like a DVLA cock up

Mr.Clutch for me, good service, large ramps and usually cheaper. Book on line and you can wait while they do it. (y)
