We have a brand new motorhome which has off the road now for 20% of the six or so months time we have owned it.

It has been on the back of a recovery truck 4 times now with at least 1 more to go to get it fixed

The vehicle can not be driven. The ECUs report multiple faults.

I have only driven it once in the dark and the headlights were obviously not set correctly. I am not even sure the other lights work.

All in all, even if Fiat Proffesional manage to fix it, I am not happy driving it. So, my question is can I get an MOT done on it?

I'm not sure what an MOT would achieve.
Your dealer should be able to supply a brand new vehicle fit for the road.
If they can't you need to take legal advice.

Yes you can mot it at any age and at any time, if you mot it at six months old you will not need to do it again until it is three years old, or you could mot it every day if it so pleases. And mot is only a test of its condition on the day of its test. But for piece of mind as we had done a lot of miles we mot’d ours at 2 years old.

If I may ask, if it's brand new, and mot's are after 3 years of age, and you have had it for only 6 months, where was it for the initial 2 years and 6 months?
In regards to your query, why not let the Fiat Professionals ( hopefully) tosort out your issues, then get them to get an mot on it?
Only my thoughts though.
Good luck and hope you get sorted.

If it was possible to get an MOT on a none runner, which it isn't, and it failed you couldn't drive it anyway until the fail points were rectified regardless of it being only 6 months old..

MOT won't check ECU , they might say there is a warning light on but you already know that and as to the headlights not being aligned that's a minor detail to put right but again an MOT won't tell you anything you don't already know.

We all hope that is the case with any MOT.

The point of an MOT now is to check for things that I don't know.

MOT won't check ECU
There are plenty of discussions oon here about ECU faults being an MOT failure. Many in regard to airbag and seat belt warnings.

The question does say IF Fiat Professional fix it? - i.e. it will run to its MOT.

Yes.
I gather this is the same motorhome that was in your other thread, did you ever contact fiat in Italy, is it fixed now?

Yes but an MOT won't tell you why it's gone wrong or put it right.

An MOT is purely for road worthiness of the brakes and steering and under body stuff, not whether the engine is going to breakdown.

Guess you want to MOT it, so when it fails you can demonstrate that your dealer has supplied an unroadworthy vehicle? Good idea.

dealer should sort this out though. Shocking PDI process…..

Have you considered giving it back as it’s not fit for purpose? Get an engineers report and use it to justify requesting your cash back .

As said the MOT is very very basic and is primarily aimed at road safety i.e. handling/steering/suspension/braking

An MOT is a very basic test of most major components to test for road worthiness. If you are looking for that to form some form of test as to the viability of returning the vehicle or to have faults repaired I think you will be disappointed.
If there are issues then a formal vehicle examination by a qualified engineer, a diagnostic check for ecu and complete check of all interior and exterior equipment is required. This will identify any faults found, any ecu issues with sensors, warnings etc and may give an indication of faults found or items not performing to the standard expected of a new vehicle. An MOT won’t look at most of those things. The subsequent independent report would form the basis of discussion with dealer.
I would start off with a list of all the things you think aren’t working properly and take it to dealer to sort and discuss any issues around what they think they are or aren’t responsible for. You then have a record of notification of faults and chances to correct them timeously.

Yes, it is the same motorhome. Fiat said get it fixed at a UK Fiat Professional.

No it is not fixed yet, but it is booked in to be sorted.

All of the other suggestions here are vailid (including mine), but can not be done until and unless Fiat Professional get it moving again in a couple of weeks time.
