Need to get my MOT done on our 52 Plate Swift Sundance. Most are saying there is a 3000kg limit for Class 4 MOT's, anything over this is class 7. For example ATS Euromaster where I was going to get some tyres, say max weight 3000kg for Class 4

I know lots of posts on here about a MH being class for, but also lots on info online to say its a class 7 so confused. Screenshots taken from ATS Euromaster, and they specifically mention a motor caravan up to 3000kg.

All motorhomes regardless of size or weight are class 4 mot.

Motorhomes that weigh up to 3500kg fall into the category of a Class 4 MOT. An MOT for a motorhome over 3500kg should also be Class 4. However, some Class 4 MOT centres may not have the capacity or equipment to test it, so it can be a good idea to take it to a Class 7 MOT centre.

Class 4.
Maybe ATS's hydraulic lifts can only take 3,000kgs.

I take mine to a centre which mostly does class 7. It was the first MOT, so I specifically asked for a class 4.

Hopefully the system will just prompt the tester next year.

FrankNicklin Screenshot from the DVLA site, so what ATS are quoting is for goods vehicles up to 3,000kgs. A motorhome (motor caravan) is not a goods vehicles.

No ambiguity and hundreds of treads on fun saying. Any weight of vehicle registered as a motorhome are class 4 MOT

Just been to local independent garage and they have confirmed it’s class 4 irrespective of the weight. Think ATS need to clarify their stance on this as clearly wrong whether it’s a limit of their ramps or not, what they are saying is BS.
