My new (to me) Burstner aviano is 7 meters long on an alko chassis and my usual mot station says it’s too big for his ramps (without even seeing it)
Even tho it’s 4000kg is it still a class 4?
Am I better looking for a class 7 mot station (for size) and getting a class 4 mot

Def class 4.. my elegance at 5000kg and all "motorcaravans" are same.
So you do need a station that has a pit or heavy duty lift 👍

MoT stations will only load motorhomes on ramps that have at least 25-50% spare capacity on weight.
Far too many stories of motorhomes plated at 3,500kg, actually weighing more, a lot more.
And the last thing you want to be doing is standing underneath, when all that is holding it up is a hydraulic system.

The other problem is height.
Many motorhomes are well over 3m high if aerials etc are included.
Which means you need a garage with a 6m internal height, which many do not have.

Look for a commercial MoT station that does lorries.

It's class 4. Because it's a motorhome, the weight is irrelevant.

The issue is the MOT station doesn't have the capability to assess all types of class 4.

Look for an ATS that does class 4 ,7 etc as they often utilise the HGV pits for large class 4 on days not operating hgv testing station

Or go to a council MOT station. They can cope with all weights and classes. With the added bonus that they have no incentive to find things wrong that they can fix for you.

Maybe they can pick and choose.
Drop VOSA an email and ask if they are obliged to test motorhomes if they test large vans.
Theres nothing about a motorhome thats different to a van as far as MOT is concerned. .
The habitation isnt tested
