Hi All

So now due for MOT ( Ducato 130) but airbag light showing on dashboard, intermittently.

Is this MOT fail now ?

Is there a dodge to turn it off ?

Fanx

Why would you want to dodge it, surely you want to make sure they are workign correctly?

Try the wiring connectors under the drivers and passenger seats, may need reseating.

How often is intermittently?
How likely is it will be off when you take it in?
You can't turn it off - only blank out the light in the dashboard with bluetach etc

It’s a fail unless you are lucky and it happens to be off at the time of MOT, or you are really good mates with the tester.

Cover the light with black tape for the mot then get the ecu sorted.

A youtube motorhomer had his fixed by crashdata in Liverpool for a reasonable amount and very fast turnround, he dropped the ecu off one lunchtime (he lives close enough) and it arrived in the next days post delivery. Not used them myself but intend to if I need to. Their website is crashdata.co.uk

Covering warning lights is not new in the MOT world. It used to be the ABS light that was taped over or the bulb removed.

For temporary solution until a new module can be sourced, concider a timer for the mot

Note this is not suggested a a fix, the airbags will not work. But new modules may have a waiting time longer than a impending mot. The efficacy of a "repair " is in doubt. Have a search

There is a setting on our 2012 Ducato 130 to turn off the passenger airbag. Don't know if it extinguishes the warning light though.

when I rang crashdata in L.pool ( re airbag module) they said van is too old (2008), and modules that age always stay failed even after fixing.

Mines going in next week for new module and proxy realignment!💰💰💰
Plus an engine service and a black sticker Carthago damp test💰💰💰💰💰💰💰

There’s only so much overtime one can do🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🙄

Think that may be more symptomatic of a failed \ failing dashboard cluster. Have a search on here for threads on Cartronix (or something like that).

Wh05apk just corrected the name.

A flashing odometer is usually an indication of a communication failure between units. Which and what depends on which light is on.

As above I’ve I second this , I just nip wire from under passenger seat , whilst I was rotating the seat ,i wire was left loose after I had work done and it got caught and cause warning like to come ( but mine was on permanent)

Question ........Double check the fuse board where the airbag module is getting its power from. For those of you who have the problem...is it getting its power from a 7amp fuse or a 10amp?

A clever person could fit a relay in the system so the light went out on starting the engine.

Not that I would advocate such a thing.

I’d just use tape 😉😂

Out of interest.

If you cover the light with tape is it recorded as couldn’t check by still gets a pass.

The same as they might do with seat belts if the seats are folded down?

Probably fail on a mandatory warning light not being visible.
