Ok, so I've read about the mopeka sensor and it's accuracy in reading the level in LPG/propane tanks. I wonder whether it can 'read' water and stuff so I can know the level in the black tank.

Just for the black tank. Has anyone tried it already?

(For fresh and grey I think I'll use a clear tube attached to the bottom of a sidewall of the tank and feed it to the garage or service hatch before running it vertically to a point higher than top of the tank. Inserting a little plastic ball will make sight of the level easier.)

I've been 'down and dirty' this Winter, (well, the grey tank anyway) clearing whatever??? it was that was giving wild readings.
It now rings nothing when there was nowt in there and I'm pleased to report it's reading right when there's grey in there.

The fresh ALWAYS registered 25% even when there was nothing in there. It now reads correctly. For those with nothing better to do, I wiped the prongs with anti bacterial spray on a damp cloth. I doubt if what I contaminated the tank as a result would have much effect on a 240 Lt. tank.
