Hi all,
I have just recently bought my first motorhome and seem to have dozens of questions but my burning question at the moment relates to leisure battery charging. I thought that by hooking up to the mains at home this would charge the leisure battery but this has not been successful. Am I missing something? Do I have to 'switch something on'? There seems to be nothing relating to this on the control panel - though to be fair I do not have the operating instructions for the control panel so if anyone knows where I could download one this would be very helpful (it's a nordelettronica mod ne 141).
Thank you.

:pink:

Any pictures of the panel, how do you know it's not charging?

>>> nordelettronica mod ne 141

That appears to be just a charger, something else controls what/when it charges anything.

I hooked it up yesterday for about 8 hours and I can hardly get the interior 12v lights to come on this morning. (It hasnt been for a decent run out for over a week)

Hi @Keith B and :welcome4:

Few simple checks. First thing - are you sure the hookup is okay - do the van 240 volt systems (plug sockets etc) work? Check the main breaker box, it'll be situated in a cupboard or somewhere relatively close to where the hookup comes into the van. Are all the breakers in the ON position? Check the test button works. There will probably be a red light on if you're properly connected. On our Bolero the leisure battery charger is switched here, on a separate switch. If yours isn't check the actual battery charger, sorry can't tell you where it may be, probably close to the leisure battery. Is it switched on? If your charger is okay you should be able to use the 12v system when you're hooked up.

On the control panel, those B1 and B2 symbols are probably test buttons, telling you the voltage of engine and habitation batteries respectively. Do they show anything?

If still no joy, you need to start getting a bit technical and a test meter will come in handy. But my first thoughts are that the habitation battery is dead. Anyway do those checks then search on the many other battery threads for further help. Don't worry, it's just a process of elimination and logical checking.

At this stage you would be well advised to consider subscribing - you only get 5 freebie posts and you've now used those up. You will find it'll be the best £15 you ever spend on motorhoming and will give you access to huge amounts of info and knowledge.

Good luck(y)

Thanks to TerryL for the suggestions - I have located the charger (under the driver seat) and there is no obvious switch. Maybe I just have a dud battery. Will take it to an auto electrician tomorrow to get it checked out. And I have invested £15 in subscribing :D
