Hi everyone,

I have for sale an as-new mobility scooter folding platform that will fit any two-bolt flange based tow bar.

Purchased from Armitage in February 2018.

When not in use it folds up flat against the back of the van:

It has the upgraded metal trailer board with large lamps (not the plastic board with small lights).

When upright, the tow ball can still be used.

To lower the platform down you simply pull out two spring loaded pins and fold it down.

If so desired, the whole thing can be removed by slackening just six bolts, leaving just the 'bracket' in place.

Tow ball still fully usable:

The trailer / light board detaches from the platform by pulling a couple of spring loaded pins.

I can lift the platform off on my own but it's probably easier with two people.

Also included is a set of telescopic alloy ramps, complete with their own carry case, these cost me £180 just on their own.

Collection from Wigan.

Yours for £500 ovno.

Fab - in my opinion, and something I have suggested but Ken isn’t keen on either fitting a tow bar or having the thing outside “on show”.
Mmm perhaps my dilemma is Ken (Lol)

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Susan

What does the whole carrier, with the section that fits to the tow bar, weigh please?

having the thing outside “on show”

Hi Susan.

We always used a bicycle cover when traveling as it stops prying eyes and protects it from the elements.

@ludo I'm not sure how much it weighs but if you can give me an hour I'll take the bathroom scales out to the garage and weigh all the pieces for you (y)

Hi @ludo

As requested!

Main scooter platform itself is 29KG:

The trailer board is 6KG:

And the bracket / mount that bolts to the tow bar is 8KG:

IMG_1215.JPG

So the total weight of all three pieces is approx 43KG.

Also, if of use or interest, the weight of the telescopic folding ramps when in their carry case is 8KG:

But we always carried the ramps inside the van as they're not that long when in the case.

If anyone has any other questions or wants some more details, just ask!

FUNster discount now available too - price reduced to £400.

I shall leave this here until next weekend, then I'll head to Gumtree or eBay (y)

Thank you for weighing the unit, I am very grateful to you.

I suspect that the whole thing might be too heavy for our van, eating up too much of our available payload. 43 kg plus 8 kg for the ramps plus about 35 kg for a towbar, (we don't have one and would need to have one fitted), making a grand total of 86 kg.

I will do some calculations but I fear 86 kg will be too much, and that without the scooter at 82 kg.

Thank you again for your trouble.

No worries @ludo - you're more than welcome.

Again, just shout if you need any more info (y)

We built wooden ramps to save on cost, however folding metal ones would be lighter, then fixed a 12 volt winch (cheapy from Aldi) into the garage of our Flair and hey presto, worked a treat.

We have ramps already. Winch! Good thinking. I thought winches were huge but have just looked on Amazon for 12v. I shall pursue this idea. Thank you, diolch.
