I am currently having problems with home broadband connection and provider and I am thinking th use of a mobile router and data SIM card. Has anyone used this type of wifi and what router would you recommend.
What experience have you had with this type of connection?
Any help advise would be much appreciated. Thanks

Been using a mifi for all my interweb needs for many years, in a poor-ish reception area so purchased a mifi with external aerial connections and stuck an aerial on the corner of my house. There are several on the market and I take the mifi with me on my travels.
huiwei (sp!) 5577 is one I think and Mercusys do a cheap one which I use currently, no battery in the Mercusys so needs a 9v adaptor (in the kit)

While waiting 6 months for our Airband fibre installation to go ahead we were dependent on the mobile router in the moho parked 20m away from the house outside the garage. It’s a Teltonika RUTX12 attached to a Poynting MIMO-3-17 antenna and had an IQGO SIM in slot 1 and a Lebara .99p SiM in slot 2. The 2G wireless connection to the router could be made from anywhere in the house - and we have some seriously thick walls - and the 5G in the rooms nearest to the van. LOS connections are circa 100m and 50m respectively. Up to 25mb download was achievable, which was way better than the BT wired contract I’d binned.

If you are familiar with the mobile Mifi widgets in many motorhomes then yes you can use same widget at home.

I'm using a Huawei mobile wifi unit with IQ Go data sim. Works a treat and can happily handle 4 devices connected to it.

I recently installed a ZTE router with a 3 SIM card in my Dads house. It works so well and is so cheap that when my broadband contract finishes I’m doing away with it and installing the same in my house.
