Does anyone have any tricks for installing these. I’ve followed the instructions but just not strong enough to get them level with the edge of the mirror.

put some fairy washing liquid around the edges and don't forget that they only go level with the edge of mirror ,on the first set I tried to get them over the slight lip 
in the end I put silicone adhesive on ,when I sold the van couldn't get the sods off (lesson learnt ) .

If you are really struggling then spray with glass cleaner. It lubricates them fir fitting, but then evaporates. Or stuff will lub them on, and then stay to lub them off.
