We have parked there before with no problems but looking at recent reviews it seems to have issues.
Anyone able to give a recent update- is it still safe and legal please?

Do you mean the car park or on Mill Road itself? The road seems to have quite a few permanent 'residents'. The car park allows you to stay overnight if you pay.

Went there for New Year’s Eve a few years back and got a good parking spot on Mill Road, very quiet at night and Arundel is a lovely place to walk around…mate of mine owns the China Palace up the top of the high street if you are after a nice meal or takeaway😋😋😋

Driving up there last Saturday for work counted 19 vans and a few caravans . Been like that for years now . Need to arrive late afternoon to get a spot .

Like anywhere, some kids think it's funny to drive along at night revving their engines and sounding their horns. You can never factor in the "what if's" like someone throwing a brick at the van, because that isn't normal behaviour even for numbnuts louts.

I am happy to report that Mill Road is as I remembered it. A great stop in an area where there is very little other free overnight park ups. Quite a few other vans here. Traffic starts quite early in the morning as dog walkers and workers start to fill up the gaps.
Very useful for us visiting Trish's sister in Tarring near Worthing
😉

Sadly we didn't make it to the China Palace :-(

We stayed there a couple of weeks ago, would use the car park next time due to speed/ proximity of some passing cars. For the cost of a tenner and more relaxing sleep car park seems worth it.
I did add a comment on P4N and it was rejected and I was given a bit of a ticking off as they claim overnighting isn’t allowed and they were imminently due to introduce a clamp down and restrictions.

The P4N entries are very confusing! I am pretty sure that the post saying that locals are likely to come and attack you with scythes and pitchforks is from a local....... It was all very orderly when we were there - just a dodgy old hand-painted caravan that had lost its tow vehicle and a car under a cover that looked to have been left there a while.

We found it very quiet no noise or cars overnight.

The council have been talking about restrictions for a few years.
If it wasn't for the old bangers and that caravan that have been there perminantly for yonks it wouldn't be a problem. They are they own worse enemy and bugger it for everyone else.

Yes when we walked past the caravan there to walk around the lake there was a big burnt patch of grass on the verge where they had had a fire🤬🤬
You get that all along that track by Stonehenge inconsiderate bar*ted's and they wonder why no one likes them.

We stopped on the drove for a couple of nights a few weeks ago, the road surface is horrific in a road going MH. I don't think we'll be going back there until we have an exped vehicle. Parked up away from the fraggles right at the crossing road for the bus shuttles and got to see the sunrise through the henge which was about 400m away.

No worse than other roads we have driven on, Just don't go in from the A303 end, you must lead a sheltered life.
You can walk up the footpath right past the stones.

We entered from both ends. It was bad! Some really tough cross axle stuff with very deep holes.

Always looks worse when you can't see how deep the holes are when they are full of water.

From one of our Spanish trips.
