Anyone got any advice on why my newly purchased HUAWEI E5573B won't work in Spain (Cambrils to be precise). its on an o2 contract and was purchased with this trip in mind. I specifically asked the question would it work in France and Spain and was told yes, once I'd connected to it and saved the shortcut on my desktop, all I would need to do was log on and hey presto. unfortunately not so. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You will need to delve into settings and probably do a manual search for networks, password is normally admin.
Someone else should be along with more detailed instructions,I am not connected to mine at the moment and can't remember the exact instructions.

type 192 into the top line and if you are lucky a link to the huawei site will come up, it is slightly different for each device but starts off 192.

My device is 192.168.1.1 try that when connected to your mifi.

There is huawei app where you can go to settings. Username and password is admin then just tick enable roaming

It's also possible the AFN setting is incorrect. Sim card usually resets this itself but it may need changing manually - you first need to get into the settings though.
Anybody know the AFN for O2 sim cards?
Sorry, for the OP, AFN is the address the sim/mifi uses to connect to O2.

If you can download the Huawei app to your tablet or phone you should find it easier to manage. Then as suggested you need to search for available networks and see what works. The ones marked as available are worth trying first and select the 3G options as the 4G may not work. Try them later if you can get 3G working. If you can't download the app it is possible to do it in a browser as mentioned above.
The APN settings are for contract mobile.o2.co.uk and for pay monthly wap.o2.co.uk

Always best to try in the UK where possible. :)

What device are you using. If it's an IPad goto settings / Wi-Fi and touch the i icon and it will give you the address of the router. If it doesn't then you are not connected. Don't forget that for it to work you need Bluetooth turned ON as well. The Bluetooth connection is between the device and Mi-Fi.

Default password and username is admin
Default web browser address is Link Removed and follow the prompts.

The device and the MiFi connect using WiFi not Bluetooth. But you make a good point, I've assumed the two are connected. :)

Don't think the connection between a mi fi and a device is bluetooth, surely it is a wifi connection, the device picks up the wifi signal the same way that it does from any wifi source.

When you are checking your settings, also check that the MIFI is set as a metered connection so you don't get your laptop/devices downloading updates whilst away as this could easily gobble lots of your internet allowance.

Still no success. am I right in thinking, that if I'm getting a wifi signal through my iPhone even though it keeps flicking between 3 & 4G, I should be able to get a wifi signal on the HUAWEI E5573B device. I have done as was suggested by 'Funster' and downloaded the HUAWEI Hi Link app onto my phone but unable to connect device to iPhone as shown on the app (by lead) I don't have cable with the small male adaptor at each end, I only have the short standard usb cable that charges the HUAWEI.

Looks like I'm going to forget the MiFi and stick with tethering to my iPhone, something I was trying to avoid, hence the new purchase of the HUAWEI E5573B device.
Thanks to all of you for your patience and advice.

Hi before you give up have a look at this link in MF. The details are for Three but the mechanics are the same.

https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...the-password-help-please.154121/#post-2370025

The details @ukbill posted are correct. Type in 192.168.1.1 in a browser search bar and the router login page should come up.

Key thing is make sure your device WiFi is connected to the router (Huawei) WiFi otherwise you will not be able to connect to it.

Hope this helps.

Thank you one and all for your responses. Unfortunately, and in spite of all your kind advice I was unable to get the MiFi working whilst abroad. Arrived back home this afternoon, just tried it and yes you've guessed it, it works fine. Must be as 'The Big One' suggested, that roaming was turned off.

Was it mentioned that some SIMs need to be 'started' in the UK before roaming is allowed?

While you have it working it may be useful to open up the utility and make some notes of the settings. If it happens again you can then check it’s correct. Also check that Data Roaming is enabled. As with your phone it can be turned on and off.
