Anyone got any advice on why my newly purchased HUAWEI E5573B won't work in Spain (Cambrils to be precise). its on an o2 contract and was purchased with this trip in mind. I specifically asked the question would it work in France and Spain and was told yes, once I'd connected to it and saved the shortcut on my desktop, all I would need to do was log on and hey presto. unfortunately not so. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Short tem - purchase a pay as you go sim card locally and see if you can get connected with the advise from others in the area who get a good signal.

We have been using one for ages on “3” in Spain but when it ran out and we replaced it with a new one it wouldn’t work. We have four new cards and none of them would work. I tried them all when we got back to the uk and all was fine. I’m going to use them this winter now they are “switched on”

If it worked in France then you might be in a dead area.
Is it a problem with laptop connecting to Mi FI or the Huawei finding a signal from o2 partners.

Log onto the device with the 192.168.1.1 in the browser and see if any bars. You could then do a manual search for signals

The more info you post more likely someone can help

First off please excuse my ignorance. When you say "Log onto the device with the 192.168.1.1 in the browser" do you mean for me to try to connect to the web using the HUAWEI MiFi and do that, or do as I'm currently doing, tethering my iPhone to my lap top and putting 192.168.1.1 into google ? Incidentally the o2 partner for this area is Movistar and I only have 3G with 1 bar showing on my iPhone.

Sorry if it appears I'm asking a lot of questions, when I should really be targeting my frustrations at o2 (but cant get through to them) who told me the HUAWEI MiFi was exactly what I needed for this trip.

He means connect to the Huawei using its wifi connection from your PC, and then put 192.168.1.1 into the browser on your PC and see what happens. You could also try 192.168.8.1

You have another post running with the same title and there is more detailed information on that one.

I think I phones pick up a good signal so if only one bar you might be in a poor area.........you do need to connect you laptop to the MIFI first..........................but did you have it working in France.

To help lets all put further posts on the other thread running
