It would depend on the hook up supply.... in theory, a 6amp supply will handle a microwave, however, that's dependent on you having nothing else switched on And if the supply is exclusive to your hook-up or shared. Can i use a household microwave in my motorhome or do i need one specificly for motorhomes / caravans . cheers
At the other end of the game an Eldis dealer wanted to charge for removing one from his dealer special." It will be a special order door, about £500 for job".They are in the more expensive vans then its something else they can charge extra for
My wife does that when we’re out in the car!I find that I sometime attempt to wave at another MoHo then realise it was too late as I just start to raise my hand........is this what is known as a Microwave
Ventilation is important. Not heard of any fires but some people have found the microwave packed in. Those that can be integrated into a kitchen unit would probably be safest but expensive! Can i use a household microwave in my motorhome or do i need one specificly for motorhomes / caravans . cheers
Really useful for defrosting pre-cooked food, heating a mug of water for a tea and generally saves of cleaning pots and pans.
I wouldn't use it for cooking pasta as the steam has to go somewhere.
Mine (see above) has ventilation out the back of where it's mounted - into the same area as the upper fridge vent. I've added a fan & thermo-switch to turn on the fan.Ventilation is important. Domestic microwave can be very heavy so look for a low wattage model. We have one that is low wattage which I keep in the "garage" where it is sits while in use as there is not enough room inside the van for it.Can i use a household microwave in my motorhome or do i need one specificly for motorhomes / caravans . cheers
It wont let me open the photos - weird as I can open others. Anyway, sounds like you have it coveredMine (see above) has ventilation out the back of where it's mounted - into the same area as the upper fridge vent. I've added a fan & thermo-switch to turn on the fan.
Weight is not a big problem for microwaves fitted in house kitchens, so there's not much profit in reducing it. A lot of the weight is in a big solid iron transformer. There are well-known techniques for eliminating the transformer, as seen in most modern power supplies and inverters. There's no reason why this should not be used in microwaves. Panasonic do a range of 'Inverter Technology' microwaves which are lighter than average. I've not looked at microwaves recently, so maybe others are doing similar, I don't know.Domestic microwave can be very heavy so look for a low wattage model.
Hi Tony, did you install this your self or get someone to do it? Also did you have to add additional ventilation etc. Yours looks great and is exactly what I would like to do with ours.AndyPK
Hi Andy
It's a Kenwood 23 litre Combination Microwave K23CM13. And here it is installed:

I installed it myself. I'd never have found the microwave if we hadn't had the same one in use at home.Hi Tony, did you install this your self or get someone to do it? Also did you have to add additional ventilation etc. Yours looks great and is exactly what I would like to do with ours.

We carry an 800 watt microwave but there is nowhere sensible to install it in our short length available. so it has to be parked on the table to use.
