On our very first rally with MHF last year in the appalling weather in the New Forrest a funster (I think it was a Womble) told me about the met office app and how much more detailed it was compared to the BBC one we were using. Didn’t use it a lot until we got an awning and omg how good is it to see not only wind speeds but gusting speeds several days in advance. It’s incredibly accurate and saves numerous nights of wakefulness listening to the van rocking gusts that seem to come from nowhere! So a big big thank you for the tip
😊😊

In my opinion the Met Office should be far better than they are with their forecasts for the investment they get. 24hrs is just about their limit for accuracy and that is being very kind to them!
The forecasts change so regularly online that they can barely be considered a forecast. I tend to use the Met Office Rain Radar app and make my own forecast as you can see the cloud movement update every 10 mins. And my nephew is a forecaster for them in Exeter he knows not to talk weather with me!

I’ve tried many forecasts and they have all been limited to one or maybe two days ahead. Met Office seem to be amongst the worst.

I use Weather Pro and find it very good.
If we are in Switzerland we use Meteo Swiss and that is absolutely spot on and never fails.

We use the Ventusky app (free version), is the Met app better?

Have a look at the AccuWeather app.
It's all I use now.
For the bigger picture in France I use Weather on-line free.
I usually select Le Mans and the map will give you a picture for the whole of France - so can see which direction you should go in:giggle:

I too am addicted to knowing what the weather is going to do. I use BBC, Met Office etc. 15-20 years ago I had access to the newspaper, radio and TV for weather forecasts. I really don't remember my life being less enjoyable. If it going to rain, it's going to rain. Not even Mr Google can change that....yet. The wonderful thing about the weather is it's unpredictable.

For short-term forecasts if one is near an airport the TAF (terminal Aerodrome Forecast) is a very specific and accurate forecast for the area. The METAR gives the actual weather every 6 hours at 20' and 50' past each hour so one can track how it matches the forecast timing.

I use Ventusky, but will check out the met office for UK thanks

Met office is terrible for anything abroad, very rare that they got it right

I'm like you I use the BBC app but will take a look at the Met office app now thanks 👍

I use the Apple weather app on my phone which is very accurate in the short term however it only lets you view 24 hours ahead in detail.

It might say there is 100% chance of rain tomorrow but it might only be for half an hour at 11pm. Not really useful for planning anything.

Apple app seems to have a problem in Scotland!
It gets the weather right (it'll be windy, raining, snowing, sunshine, fog and freezing tomorrow) but it fails trying to tell the time when tomorrow it'll be doing that!

Prefer Met one to BBC
I sometimes use others
We are an island on the edge of the Atlantic any forecast is only good for a couple of days. After that it's just trends that are being shown.

They did manage to forecast the summer. 22nd July before 2.45pm (y)

I use forecast.co.uk app. It has been pretty accurate for me through France and Germany

Not since the IOS 16 update.
I have just 24hr in detail.
Then 10 days of summary: min / max temp and the icon for cloud / rain / sun etc.
Or is there a setting to change?

Edit: if you click on the hour or day there is more detail.
