Hello,

Many thanks for any help in advance. We are just starting our conversion of a Sprinter Lwb. I have found loads of useful information but one thing that I can not find is information about seats in the second row. We got 2 kids so need 2 seats in the back with seatbelts etc. We rented a sprinter before and they had a bench installed and I have seen them otherwise but I can't find any info. I am looking for info about

a) which seats can be installed, only Mercedes or others too?

b) how do I install them

c) info about seats that might be folding?

d) is this difficult to install DIY or who would install it safely, ideally in somerset.

Many thanks for any help

We have 2 kids and I'm currently converting a Crafter (so Sprinter body) and bought seats from Captain seat https://www.facebook.com/groups/309329343061015. The second row converts into a bed for us with bunks at the back for kids.

For me it's important that they are front facing and MOT compliant so that the seat belts are effective. Captain Seat do fit while you wait for a fee but I fitted my own. A simple process if you take your time, drill 3mm pilot holes to check clearances etc and then drill full clearance holes when you are sure. Bolt down tightly and be sure to use steel plates under the floor to prevent pull through in case of an accident. Happy to take pictures and give more detailed advice if needed!

There are always rock and roll beds for sale on ebay or facebook marketplace like above. Or if you just want second row seats from a minibus or crewcab, the same goes. ebay or facebook, loads of designs to choose from. Mounting to the floor takes several decent bolts and spreader plates

Most Kombi van seats will fit. Bolt through the floor with big washers/plate underneath. Some come with runners that you bolt down and seat slides into them.
Belts are normally fitted into the seat itself.

Transit seats are tidy and reasonably priced on eBay etc.

I can vouch for Transit seats, nice seats, bloody heavy though!
When installing mine I managed to get most of the anchor points running through cross members for extra strength, wasn't too bad a job but if your not comfortable then I'd recommend getting someone else to fit them.
They fold down flat, they also fold in an upright position (hard to explain but you fold them flat then the two back legs can be raised off the ground for extra space, imagine a dog walking on its front legs!), they can also be removed completely just leaving the runner bar fixed to the floor.
