2005 Laika Ecovip H680 on Fiat Ducato.
Non- existent Medium wave reception, so can't get Radio 5, which is a bit of a disaster.
Yes, I know we could stream on a phone, but I'd like to be able to simply switch on my radio! Is that too much to ask?
YouTube is full of solutions for far newer kit, so i probably need something more old school.
Any ideas, tips??
Cheers

Your best option is DAB. At least it will be worth listening to. AM radio is always problematic in a vehicle.

Would agree with fitting a DAB radio option.
I have a favor to ask though. One of my customers has a 2005 Ecovip H680. They left the bathroom window open while on holiday and it has torn right off. Could I ask you to give the numbers off the wee sticker on your bathroom window. We can get windows, but only if I can give my supplier the numbers off the sticker. Thankyou in advance.

Welcome to Fun but your question would be seen by more if you started your own thread. Something like Bathroom window help on a 2005 Ecovip H680.

I think he's put it here because the OP SueandAndy has the exact same model. (y) However, phil rae may need to pay a subscription to receive the message back with the information he seeks. It will still be the best £20 he could spend though.

Yep, we are an AWS workshop just trying to help out a customer. It is a very rare motorhome, so I was pleased to see another appear somewhere. Is the number is available, then we can order the correct window and get the customer sorted out.

Hi there. You're right about being rare, but I commented to my BH that all the windows on these things look the same. Anyway I've had a go at taking a piccie of said window sticker. Let me know if it helps or if you need more.

In the end I simply tidied up the aerial. Took it out, did a quick bit of sanding to both bodywork and flangey thing where its supposed to make proper contact and reinstalled more securely (ie tightened it up). Not perfect but MUCH improved.

That earth connection under the aerial is very prone to crap. Also check the quality and condition of the braiding used and that the radio has its own earth connection and is not using the aerial cable as its earth.
Finally DAB is a way forward but only if you take time to do a proper aerial installation. Some people will swear by the windscreen ones but to get coverage across UK put it on the roof!

Just fitted a new Kenwood with Bluetooth and Alexa. It's very good, but haven't managed to tune into MW, so I am also missing Radio 5.
My first plan is to use my phone connected to the new radio. If that doesn't work easily I may just have to go to the trouble of installing the DAB areal 🥴

Stream would be easiest, better quality and radio is designed for it or dab. Either would get you R5 of course but do also consider ease of use whilst driving
It's all a bit of fun!
Mike
Ps I was surprised to find recently how little data an audio stream uses

BBC Sounds streamed to the radio sounds viable. Especially if you have a good co-pilot.
