Hi all. Can anyone point me in the direction for 90 day travel insurance. I have been with the Nationwide for years. They have just changed supplier and the cost has gone up excessively - well over double what we paid last year.
Thanks. Mike

We have used Total Travel Insurance for our 90 days which starts next week and cost £280 which includes a few medical conditions. They have a policy which does not include the stuff that we don’t really need and is aimed mainly at repatriation.

We were with Nationwide, too and the cost to insure for 2 x 90-day trips with Aviva was prohibitive.
We have taken out an annual multi-trip policy with Virgin Money for less than half the cost of the Nationwide/Aviva policy. Each trip can be up to 92 days.

You could also try LV. I have just paid £232 for their Premium policy which covers 90 days with a few medical things covered and is for 12 months.

Virgin Money do 94 days per trip, I recently paid £167 for multi-trip cover (ages 61 & 66), and by going via Top cashback I should also get cashback on it of over £20.

Try LV online. Just taken ours out for 60+ days away. IIRC you may need their annual policy rather than a single trip one.
Yes, I've just done LV online. £190 (with some medical conditions), annual Premium policy.
(The basic one doesn't cover 90 days).
If I'd gone for a single trip policy it came out at £311! 🙄

Don't forget the Nationwide policy includes breakdown. For us it covers 2 people driving 3 different vehicles - 2 of which are over 10 years old (one 20 years old) including Europe. That can work out quite expensive so as a package I still find Nationwide cover is still competitive.

The medical cover is also worldwide so we will use it this month on a trip around Patagonia. Plus if you also have a savings account with Nationwide you will get a £100 thank you each year.

It all depends what you need.

We went virgin 129 for the pair of us multi European trip 90 day coverage per trip. 59 and 57.
No medical alerts given to them as none of my answers for my spinal injury triggered further investigation.
I rang them to query this and they said you can tell us about it and it's 150 more or you can just not tell us about it and you're covered.
Tough choice 💰

Rob & myself are just going down this route too as we both have flexplus acs & mhs & with Aviva taking on the travel insurance its no longer worth it for either of us.

I've just taken out LV breakdown but via asda - this has worked out cheaper than going to LV direct for some reason.

I've also taken out LV travel premier insurance for £94 annual multi trip. I do have other policies with them.

The post office also gave a decent quote & was very reasonable for my daughter (with pre existing conditions) she's in her 30's & you can extend trip length & add cruise cover which we need.

We'll both be downgrading the flexplus to the free account as we're both happy with Nationwide for the time being.

We've changed to a Nationwide free account, taken Virgin multi-trip, 92-day travel insurance, added van breakdown to our Comfort policy (£81), and taken AA family breakdown for 4 people driving any car (£112).
We've saved in excess of £400.

I'd be interested to see how you have saved £400. Nationwide at £18 per month = £216 a year. Your breakdown alone is £193.

How much is your Virgin travel ins? How many 90 days per year were you intending to to do with Nationwide? Additional health charges?

Virgin certainly doesn't work for me - 92 days worldwide cover is nearly £1000. 62 year old with just basic common medical conditions. Are people maybe just getting European cover not worldwide?

As follows- The £18 per month, more or less, cancels out the breakdown.

We make 2x90-day trips per year, for which Aviva quoted us £480 per trip.

Our annual multi-trip trip, 92-days-per trip, policy with Virgin was £470 total.

We are both over 70 and each have a couple of the usual preexisting conditions.

We do not need worldwide cover.

Remember Co-op Bank have just been bought by Cov Building Soc so what was available previously might not be now.
