Collecting a new motorhome next week. Will be a while before Vanbitz can be visited - Anyone recommend a good wheel lamp/steering wheel lock/pedal lock (auto box) ? Before we head off to Halfords or the like and just pick the strongest things we can find?
Thanks

First thing I'd get is the Oxford Patriot motorcycle brake disc lock to lock the driver seat in reverse position. Lots of us have done it and there's a thread on it somewhere.

Circular Disk Lock Steering wheel lock as a visual deterant, plus clutch claw foot pedal lock & as suggested Patriot Disklock to lock drivers seat backwards, and the van aint goin no where easily.
We have The Vanbitz Growler Alarm, plus Meta active Tracker from new, I think there is a new non start version now available, well worth the money, plus insurance discounts to be had.
Fit additional cab door & hab door mortice door locks when you get a chance, especially if its on a Ford Transit base.

We have the Stoplock Pro Elite as required by our insurance.

Clutch claw is a decent option, we also have chains on our cab doors, inconspicuous but easily unhooked from inside. We've got to the stage where the chains are rarely unhooked other than to set the clutch claw.

The downside of those options are that they don't offer any real 'visual' deterrent, which thankfully is supplied by our Growler!

Visual deterrents play a massive part of the security package in my view 😁

IMHO the ones that go through the steering wheel are not very good, my work colleague had one and when her van was stolen the thieves simply cut through the steering wheel either side where it clamped on. The Patriot lock on the seat and peddle boxes will be more difficult to get round.

If you have it at home try to box it in will another vehicle.

stop lock pro, patriot seat lock and clutch claw for the pedals then add an obd lock too. I have all this AND the Vanbitz setup.

The patriot lock requires the O.P. to drill a hole :eek:in his new baby for the mushroom pin to be secured through.
Though this is about the only physical lock that gives me any sense of security having seen how quickly 5" battery grinders dispatch most physical locking measures, chains , cables, shackles, et al.
Mike.

IMO there is only one steering wheel lock to get.
A Disclok...
Cannot get a more visual deterant than that and they are more secure than any others..

Yes, wasn't that keen on doing that so soon! But have the ability and tools so will just do it when Mrs isn't in earshot :) Patriot lock In the basket...Thanks.

I agree and the DiskLock appears to be the better of these visual deterrents too. No chance of blocking it in with another car but Weill be installing a retractable post in the very near future too :)

Definitely booking and visiting Vanbitz when the time allows

This thread prompted me to update the Fun 10% discount code for Clutch Claw taking it down to £126 delivered when buying direct from the manufacturer https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/clutch-claw-with-10-motorhome-fun-discount-code.218289/
Will check Disklok discounts too now...
Disklok https://disklokuk.co.uk/product-category/disklok/ 10% discount code https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/saving-money-with-funster-discounts.8170/ still working but always shop around as their ebay shop https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_...&store_name=festivelights&_oac=1&_nkw=disklok often has ebay discount codes that apply so could be better at times. Also the RAC Shop often have good prices https://www.racshop.co.uk/search/disklok & understand that there may be further discounts if you are a member. Best price will depend on the size & colour of Disklok & whether the wheel cover & bag are also wanted as well as other promotions.

Thank you all for the pointers.

Disklock Diamond, Milenco Pedal Lock & Oxford Patriot all incoming. DB2 Rewire security tracker arrived (they actually called me to check before despatch and discuss the imaginative self-installation options too, phenomenal service these days - Praised similarly in other posts) - Will order correct habitation door lock next week when Dora2 is on the drive.....this along with parking in front of it is just about all I can do for now :giggle:

I use a Milenco wheel clamp as a visual deterrent while at home, to hopefully stop anyone trying to break in. Various other delaying methods while the alarm is going if they do.

Might need to check with your insurance, as some have minimum requirements. For example mine specified the Milenco steering wheel lock to get a discount. I also use a cable that is designed to loop round the steering and lock into the seatbelt buckle. On my previous van, I would turn the drivers seat round and use the cable to lock through the door handle and into the seatbelt, thus locking the seat backwards and preventing the door bieng forced, but can't do that on my A class.
