Anybody getting searched? Wife is thinking of emptying the fridge/freezer now I mentioned no meat or dairy.
We go across Monday.

We weren't searched in September nor in December Olley, using the Tunnel on both occasions.

I have heard of some being checked at Spanish ports.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

We have never been searched in over 8 trips to Europe since Brexit.
French customs are not bothered about a fridge full of food for your personal consumption.
We simply empty the fridge at home into the van. Simples :drinks:

We found decent meat expensive on the mainland so take a decent amount of mince, chicken breast and steak etc.We freeze it and the first time took it out and hid it in an overhead locker before the checkpoint but no one checked so havent bothered hiding it since.

Last year, I think I was about to be searched but the trainee (first week on duty member of staff or so he said) at the tunnel instructed me to join the other queue than what his superior and matron looking colleague instructed. He got told off and she told him hers was the side for checking that gas is off and no contraband food. He just shrugged and asked me if my gas was off?
I thanked him as I bbq'd my bacon whilst in France and had a chuckle to myself.

Thanks guys but the wife ain't having it, the fridge/freezer has been cleared, daughters happy just dropped of 15 eggs.
Tomorrow apparently we are having cheese egg and ham sandwiches.:ROFLMAO:
Got a 9am dfds ferry on Monday and then a saunter down to Honfluer, so plenty of time for some shopping.

There is no guarantee of not getting searched so just take a bit of milk for a brew and a bit of ham for a butty. There are plenty of shops and supermarkets over the water so you will not go short.

We are off on Monday, No meat or dairy but lots of salmon and left over eggs. You aren't even allowed tinned meat! I know it is unlikely we will be searched but the guilty look on my face , will grass me up!

olley 😉 you can take Oat milk. 😁

There's always more people not getting caught breaking laws, than that get caught. 😄

We haven't been searched, but I would advise on not hiding things, a friend hid tobacco under the seats in his car and they found it, and stripped all the door panels off and never put them back, and confiscated the tobacco. 😲
He was moaning at one of the customs staff, and he said you got off light as they normally also have the headline out. 🤔 Bob.

Not been searched on any crossings, tunnel or ferry. We only take enough bits for a day or so anyway as we often cross late at night and as you know there is nothing open in France at those hours. They are more concerned with the gas being off. Yes, it’s a risk but I don’t think they are concerned with a small amount for personal consumption.

Food in France- prices have rocketed. We shop on way to ski ing every year as little shops in resort dear and sometimes dont have fresh milk. This Easter we bought less than usual as had brought stuff in tins from home - cost was almost 50% more that the last time we did a bigger shop 😱

I hate their uht rubbish and fresh milk is like rocking horse teeth. Although they do sell coconut Yop in the bigger supermarkets……my absolute favourite.

Went for two weeks over Easter and only checked bathroom, the large wardrobe and looked in the garage on return. Thoughtfully, he did it from the door as it was wet and he didn't want to come in and make a mess! Nothing at all on the way out. We went on the ferry from Calais.

The bigger supermarkets always stock regular semi and full fat fresh milk. Not always very much and it can take some finding but it's there
