I've been looking at setting up a motorhome review channel, but proper reviews take a fair bit of effort, and unless you can take the van away and use it, its not a review. It's just another pointless, shaky walk around a van, saying this is the oven, look at the bed, ooh thats me in the mirror, let me open this cupboard with one hand while filming with the other, meanwhile take a look at my feet. . There are zillions of these on youtube and I hate every one of them.

So I got to thinking, rather than a pointless walkaround, how about speaking to owners and getting a tour of their van. They will know all of the good and plenty of the bad, which has lead me to want to give this format a go. I'd like to start at Lincoln, so if you are going to Lincoln and would like to take part please give me a shout.

If I can do this properly, make the videos informative and get good relevant content that helps potential purchasers, then I think it could prove to be a valuable resource for us all. What do think? And will you volunteer?

Great idea - I’m in cumbria with a 2015 swift - prob not a target audience - but REAL LIFE reviews from REAL MOTORHOMERS! Brilliant

Nice idea, but most people are not very good with a video camera and even worse at editing.

Maybe better idea to 'procure' someone who can handle a camera and has access to a decent editing suite (and cutting room floor!) and film the videos at the show with the owners only doing the commentary (as they know the van best)

Sorry I should've been clearer. I will be using a camera and interviewing and reviewing the van with the owner.. (y)

I would be more than happy to give a tour of our van but as we don't really do meets it would probably be at your place if that's ok sometime.

Sounds a great idea always love seeing different vans what people love about em and what they would change

Good idea, and would be more than happy to participate next time we visit Jasmin Camping. 👍

Fantastic idea👍🏻 We would be happy to do one although we are not currently booked on any MHF rallies.

We are however planning to visit Jasmine Camping next year👍😀

Trouble is, if you ever want to sell the van after the warts and all expose, you've shot yourself in the foot.

I'd volunteer, but I'm not very photogenic ...
I think everyone knows about our van :whistle2: :giggle:

Great idea, Jim. I have become very disillusioned with the typical you tube reviews which you describe very succinctly, Peter Vaughan from MMM is probably best of the bunch. When I do watch them I turn the sound down. I also don't find magazine reviews very helpful.
So it will be great to have structured and extensive live in feedback.
Only picking up our new van tomorrow, so not appropriate just yet, but will be happy to participate down the line.
This review by Andrew Ditton is the one and only you tube review which we found helpful whilst researching our new van

You are welcome to drop by and more than happy to do a review, 2023 Pilote P696D, Bavaria is a bit of a run for you though........😬

I'd be happy to participate but not at Lincoln sadly. Next year though?

Alan Heath lookout ! :ROFLMAO:

Will you be offering to clean the outside of the van for free before the videoing starts, if so I’m in.

Happy to do an interview at the next Rally or at Jasmin
(with a bit of warning, as my agent says costume and makeup may take a while)

Andrew Ditton

Andrew Ditton is one of the few I watch. Sad news though. Talking to him in Germany last week, He's finishing with the whole caravan, motorhome thing and has moved from Scotland back to Kent. Resuming his previous career and going to work full time on the trains.

It’s not about drag Queens you do know that, don’t you 🤔😂
That depends on the motorhome and the occupants....

I should be at Lincoln although if it keeps raining like it us now I might change my mind about attending

Great idea. Would be great to see some " honest" owner reviews. Not just some twat pointing out the bling .
Show us things that work and dont work.
Looking forward to seeing them.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

We‘d be pleased to do one with you about our Vantage Jim Bought last year we have spent 267 nights in it and are heading out for our winter trip of five months to Portugal and Spain so it would have to be next year now. 👍
