Lovely fix yesterday - the extractor fan and light switches on the underside of the cabinet above the hob were dodgy - intermittent. I assumed someone had spilt some fluid in the cabinet and it had spread out, fallen into the switches and gummed up the contacts.
So I disassembled the box around the switches to get at them and the first thing I noticed was that when they made the cabinet they left all the sawdust in there from when they'd drilled the holes for the wiring - LOADS of it.
It turned out that the sawdust had found its way into the switches and was stopping the contacts making contact.
Just a bit of vacuuming out the cabinet and blowing the sawdust out of the switches and they work perfectly.
That's the kind of fix I like - cost me nothing
Lazy work though - shameful.
