We have a McLouis Fusion 360 we purchased in August 2020. It was brand-new some months before that and had hardly done any miles due to Covid.

Some 3 or 4 months ago we got this error on the screen saying camera system unavailable. Nothing had happened - it just went off and came up with the error message?? I got an auto-electrician to look at it and he told us that there was no power to the camera and when he put power to the camera it still didn't work??? We thought that was strange so got in touch with Auto-Sleepers who import McLouis motorhomes into the UK.

Following this we went to and fro between ourselves and McLouis. We needed to know where the feed to the camera was as it couldn't be followed through the bodywork. McLouis kindly sent us some photos of the wiring behind the dashboard that was supposed to show where the camera wiring was. Alas it just didn't correspond at all with the wiring on our vehicle. We constantly asked for more and better details and to cut a long story short we couldn't get anywhere and Autosleepers told us that they couldn't take it any further for us. Frustrating !!

We have since been told by local motorhome specialists that the camera is probably a standard Fiat camera and probably came with the chassis when McLouis purchased the chassis so it may be a Fiat problem. I'm wondering what you guys think might be the solution to this weird problem?

Is there any part numbers on the camera itself.
Have you a photo of the camera.

Strange, the fusion 360 is a coachbuilt I thought. So it will not be a Fiat camera. If the camera is getting power, it will be either permanent live or from the reversing light, and the video line is not producing a feed, then the camera is dead. You need to find the plug behind the camera to rule out the cable along the chassis to test. if that is producing video, then test at the head end. rules out the camera and the cable. That would place the fault in the head unit.

Hi Guys

OK yesterday we wizzed the camera off and took some pics. The first pic is of the label that was wrapped around the cable right by the camera. It says "BOMA Tech" with a date below. The 2nd photo is of the number on the cable connector whilst the other 2 photos are of the camera itself.

The lads at the workshop tell me there is no power to the camera and it doesn't work if you put power to it. They are adamant that the camera is part of the Fiat system as it shows its output on the Fiat screen in the cab.

What do you guys think now and thanks for your help so far (y) (y)

It looks like this type of camera which is just standard.
If you can peel back the insulation to check if power is actually going to the camera but the camera is not working.
Does the cable have a 5 pin plug, a thin black thing?
Not doubting the workshop but it doesn't look like a fiat camera. They do have a few but not something like that.

Hi Guys

I have Whatsapp'd Camperflash.it with those 4 photos and a problem description and they have replied firstly "Hi sorry we don't have this camera" I replied that I just needed to know if it will have been fitted by Fiat" and they replied "It doesn't seem like a replacement from Fiat"

So do you think it's worth my writing to Fiat and see if they think its been fitted by them or would McLouis have been able to connect this camera to the Fiat system bus?

Whilst fiat do fit some can us friendly cameras yours doesn't look like a fiat one.
Have you tried fitting another camera into where that one connects to the van. Just to see if any generic camera will work. So long as it has the same number of cables, it may work.
McLouis should have the details if they built it but it sounds like they can't be arsed

Finally got it sorted - took the van to Edge Electrical in Aston near Chester and they sorted it in an hour and a half. They found a wire that had been cut in the loom that ran behind the drivers seat. How that wire got cut is way beyond me but it's all sorted now so I've finally got a result.

Thanks for all your help guys :)
