Hi there,

I just got the Maxxfan Delux installed yesterday by a motorhome dealer. Great installation, very happy with it. However..... When I switch it on for inflow and outflow, there is no air pressure. The fan spins, from 10% to 100%, you can here it. I did noticed some air flowing horizontally across the ceiling of the van but no direct vertical flow.

When I took off the fly screen there was an increase flow. Put it back on no flow. Took the screen off again, no vertical flow. Any help would be really appreciated.

Have you tried opening the window and seeing if there is much pressure there as you open or shut the window?

Ours actively sucks the window shut.

You don’t tend to feel the air actually flow, but it does evidently move a lot of air.

How well sealed is your Van? Airflow is directly tied too how much can be expelled,
I crack open my forward upper vent to allow air out, my maxi vent then does a good job of keeping bedroom ventilated,

I tested different doors and windows and still didnt improve the downward flow. I suppose I am comparing it to the old fan which you would definitely feel when I had it on. There is airflow across the ceiling. I will test one of the smaller windows...

Thanks IvorAntony... it is very well sealed and winterised. I suppose the question Im wondering is should I be getting alot of down flow when its pulling in air.....

Never used mine on air in, but on air out you can get it to suck windows in, and hear the noise difference when door/window is open/closed.

If you hold a strip of loo roll infront of it can you see it moving anything round ?

You can only pull air in if it can exit elsewhere.ie a vent or window. Same with expelling air ,it can only be achieved if air is allowed in.

Can I suggest you light an incense stick and watch the smoke trail.

We don't necessarily feel an "out" passage of air but any steam or smoke is whipped out of the fan opening. One of our fans definitely feels stronger on IN than the other should we choose to pull fresh in with one and out with the other fan (we have two).

It's a fan not an air pump. The airflow in cubic meters per hour is not exactly huge. It will help pulling hot air out, but as others mention, you need another source of air in or out as the fan displaces it.

Also raising the vent lid above the fan makes a huge difference

Is the housing raising up?
Is the fan spinning?
Cant really think of any other reason why it wouldn’t be as good as the rest of ours.

The housing is raising up and down and the fan is spinning both ways...... A thought did come into mind, could it be the the spinningfan itself was installed upside down...

Not really, the key to tighten it would be on the inside then and it would just fall off.
