maxx air fans any good

Just fitted one last August and to date it’s been one of the best accessories we have added to the van. It uses minimal power overnight as well.

Our RV has two - we use one in and one out for flow-through of air. They are temperature and rain sensing on ours. Very useful when we leave the cats inside as we know the fans will kick in at whatever temperature we select.

We have the Maxfann Deluxe and used it a lot last year in Spain & Italy.
We had one issue with the PCB which meant the fan cut out when switched above 20%, a replacemnt PCB was sent which was a pain to fit but sorted the problem.
We also found that if using in heavy rain, the water bounces off the roof and into the cowl and drips on the beds.

Is one enough?
Depends on the size of your van and where it's fitted.
We have a Fantastic vent in our van (similar to Maxxfan) it's at the front of the bedroom area it cools the bedroom a treat but not the lounge 7.5m van. The last van it was central above the kitchen cooled both the bedroom and lounge, 7.2m van.

Replaced our very underused aircon and very pleased with it.
Especially as I sold the aircon unit which paid for it!

Two very minor gripes with our Maxxfans which we love and would buy again in a heartbeat.

1. They are really quiet in operation, but the mechanism to raise and lower them (takes 1-2 secs) sounds a bit Heath Robinson- I reckon better design input could make that motor silent too.

2. The optional roller blind cover is pretty flimsy so we insert a home made foam pad in really cold weather to improve insulation.
This has an added benefit of making the already manageable wind noise even quieter on motorways.

But they are a great bit of kit.

I’m looking seriously at a Maxxfan for my new Adria Twin SLB (due in the next couple of months 🤞) I’m told that the van already has the wiring fitted, as standard, presumably for optional aircon. Can any Adria owner confirm?

Also, assuming it can be fitted into the existing factory fitted hatch/hole, can anybody offer advice on implications for water ingress guarantee?

You can modify the Heki blind to fit.

Thinking of one on our new carthago c Compactline when it (eventually) arrives, not sure if there is power to the central roof light but hoping there is but will ask if I remember when I get it.

There's supposed to be cabling already there, that's what we were told with our 2019 i-138.

I fitted one in place of a small Heki roof vent. When I took the Heki off there was a small flexible conduit and draw wire already in the opening. I took advice from Youtube and removed the PCB and coated it in Conformal liquid before fitting it ,as apparently condensation can affect it, other than that it has worked perfectly and is very quiet.

Thanks thats what I was hoping. Did you ever have a look😃
Nope not yet but the technicians I asked were very confident it was there. One of these days I'll get round to fitting a Maxxfan! :giggle:
