As per the title, I found out that Mapy.cz are now charging 18.99 p.a. to be able to download offline maps which is a tad expensive for my liking, but probably still better than using shed loads of data whilst out and about abroad.

What you can do is download a full country (all the regions) before you go on holiday and this country can be changed for another country if you delete your original, but this would entail a shed load of data if you did it on holiday.

We will be off to Spain in March so I have downloaded the whole of Spain now and will just have to use data for when in France travelling through. Then delete Spain and upload Germany for our June holiday and delete that then upload France for September and rely on data when in the UK when I hardly use it.

I ll be looking for alternatives other than maps.me (though I will have a look to see if I can put France on Maps.me whilst Spain is on Mapy.cz)

For your information and I know Lenny HB uses mapy.cz whilst it was free

A lot cheaper than Maps. me.
A bit of a pain as we have found it's road mapping is excellant and have been using it with Android Auto for our satnav far better than any others I used, haven't even bothered to update the Fiat one as that's crap.

I ve just reinstalled maps.me and I m allowed 10 areas to download so that should cover me for France in areas we are likely to stop and need it but not so that we can use it as a satnav for transversing

The good news is that my 18,500 aires/stellplatzes etc have remained on the system which may help with finding places to stay

My 'go to' mapping when cycling both here and abroad, doubt I'll need to download maps first as I have 100gb mobile data with my EE contract so that isn't really a problem... worth knowing about the pricing though, and downloading before if you need to.
