Carthago C Tourer
I have a Carthago C Tourer. Max weight 4250 kg, I am considering installing manual stabilisers for the rear of the van, does anyone have experience of this and if so what are the downsides, can anyone recommend a good supplier please. First post. 😁

Our new Compactline came with them don't see the point of them probably going to take them off.
Only had the van a few days need to get all the electrics sorted first.

Manual stabiliser on the back of mine. Use them most times we stop. Only takes a minute to deploy them. Stops the wobble as you move around.
I'd miss that love the van rocking in the wind, always sleep better.
Also another thing to FAP about with or forget every day.

Ahhh Lenny.
Still a baby at heart and love being rocked to sleep

I see it this way, you wouldn't sleep in a house that was swaying so why is it acceptable in a motorhome.
Same applies to being level.

Usually pretty easy to DIY install although it will depend on the chassis and how it has been extended by the builder. Added them on the back of our previous Laika, worked well and happy we had them.

Just make sure you have a good system of remembering to retract them….. they make good field ploughs😁

I fitted these trailer jacks, they really help keep things stable and level. Never go anywhere without them now. Really dislike the rocking motion as you move about the van without them deployed, also OCD about the van being level!!

I bought a couple of scissor jacks off eBay to use with ours as it's like having a baby elephant stomping about when hubby moves around inside ... just not got round to trying them yet! 😄

Haven't used ours since air suspension added at rear. Also very seldom use wedges.

Our ‘new to us’ 2020 C Tourer has them, think they might be Alko?

Not been brave enough to use them yet, too worried I might forget I’ve wound them down.

OK if you drive off forward they are a supposed to kick up but if you go backwards may end up with a lot off damage.

Are we getting a gin palace thread ?
Soon a bit hassled at the moment. Daughter and family over from Thailand & with the other grandkids coming round, I'm suffering.
At least the van getting some use we are sleeping in it so we get a peaceful night.

Not sure if these are the exact same, but just for context - £562 wtf

Isn't that Bailey's site about 4 times the going rate I think.
We have only got them because we took over a canceled order and could only change the hab spec not the chassis, Carthago charge £400 factory fitted.

I would only plan to put them down if we were staying longer than two nights (I think). Plus put a note on the steering wheel. But thanks for the warning. 👍

Ours came with them on. Used then a few times when windy and they make a huge difference. If I put them down, I hang the winder through the steering wheel.

We have rear legs to wind down, only use them if we are staying for a few days.
The winding handle, after use, goes on the driving pedals so it’s impossible to forget them!

I lay the handle across the pedals when I’ve got the steadies down on my van

Haven’t lowered mine in 10 years, vans fine with them staying up and don’t notice any difference at all.

I'm looking to but some manual jacks like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CNVD7S49/?tag=mhf04-21

Thought they would be better than fixed as they only need to stop a bit of wobble and can be driven off without damage (If you forget them ;)). You can get various heights and can be positioned in multiple places unlike a fixed stabiliser.

The alko ones are made to spring up if you accidently drive off. I am putting 2 sets for sale in classifieds shortly 1 off my old van only on for a year and 1 off my present van now got levellers on but they did there job
