There can be no easy answer, but is anyone considering replacing wing mirrors with magic eyes?

On my A Class the blind spots created by the sexy coach-style mirrors are huge. I think a magic eye camera system would be a huge safety bonus, but understand that swapping out would probably invalidate insurance and represent an MOT failure.

Why not just fit a revising type camera outside and screen inside.

This look a good 360 deg system for a motorhome or van but is just under £1k by the look of it.

I wonder if the mentioned FORS compliance in the tag line would help making the case for using the system, insurance and roadworthiness wise?

The merc truck cameras run through the ecu, any damage to the camera puts them into limp mode , a safety feature I guess

Years ago, a friend stuck a tiny little reversing type mini camera on his lh wing mirror, as his second input into his reversing camera. Pointing forward, of course. I have long thought of doing the same, but in the end, never bothered.

Don’t forget the parallax effect. When you are using your mirrors, as you move your head or body you get a different view, this won’t happen with a camera.

It’s amazing, so much better than a 360 in a car, you can look down each side or the front and back too
I had the 360 in my Touareg and it was really useful at times. It would be a great addition to my MH but a little too expensive for the amount of times the MH is used.

Given I have over 100k in my Motorhome, 2 grand was peace of mind when manoeuvring it, so I was happy.
I think I would do same if mine was worth £100k too so fully understand that investment. I may still look around as there is new tech coming to the market all the time.

The 360 is expensive and I'm baulking at it, but I drive the A Class a lot of the time on narrow mountain roads, with crash barriers, which needs a lot of near-side wing mirror checking. The mirrors being placed as they are, this means turning my head away from the view ahead, which is, as they say, sub-optimal.
The other issue is that rear-end overhang swing is very hard to gauge in the wing mirrors, and potentially, very expensive.
I'm wondering how much a 360 would alleviate these problems.

The 360 helps with the overhand because you can see all angles
