Beginners, got Doggy the van - March 2014
Comments please about LV Motorhome Insurance, in regards to dealing with Breakdowns in Europe (Britannia) and incase of Insurance Claims.
Got a very good quote (£200 lower then my renew quote with Saga).
Many Thanks

Not had to claim for motorhome, but the car claim is excellent.

We had our vans insured by LV through Frank Pickles until they changed the rules so that the insured must also have a car.

Claim response was excellent though. Our first van was hit by other vehicles whilst parked by the roadside on 17 December and 19 December 2011 (it stayed where it was after the first collision because it was a Saturday and recovery could not be arranged until the Monday).
It was written off and despite the holidays we received a cheque for an amount we were happy with on 28 January 2012.

I have posted on here a few times a out LV. One if the best businesses I have ever dealt with. We have 5 vehicles insured with them.

Wow That’s very good. Thank you

Thank you. They didn’t ask me to move my car to insure with them but I may do it on the renew in February 23.
with the Motorhome, the 180 days in Europe can be a restriction for me in 2024.

Various opinions on LV in the specific Insurance forum.

Have 3 vehicles insured with LV including a MH.
Had pet insurance until they decided that asking the vet about something was considered as a prior condition, claim denied.

Will be giving the phone/keyboard some exercise in April as renewals due.

Use Nationwide for breakdown as part of the plus account benefits. (£13 for worldwide travel insurance and full EU recovery + a couple of other bits) no brainer ATM.

LV were the most competitive quote for our MoHo insurance at £352 so I went online to take it out to start on 1st December and the price had dropped by around 10%! I found out that because we had insured Mrs Orion’s car with them earlier in November (through Confused.com for the lowest price and a £20 Lidl voucher) our postcode and address was automatically recognised and the discount applied.

Have been a customer for may years now, including their former guise (Frizzell).
I like companies that answer the phone quickly and LV do that. Always efficient and competitive, but happily no cause to make a claim yet so can’t comment on that.

Have been with LV for past three years, but as we have just brought a new Campervan, we went with Safeguard, even though the premium was a bit higher. The reason was because they replace new for old, for the first two years, so thought this was worth the extra premium. After two years will most definately go back with LV, as have a multi car policy with them👍

Same as others we have our PVC as part of a multi car account. Thankfully never had to claim for the van but a previous car claim was handled brilliantly.

Had to make a claim last year for broken side window whilst in France. Window cost £800 plus (it was double glazed on a Le Voyageur 6.8) No problems. Claim dealt with efficiently. Now have car and van with them on a dual policy. (very competitive price) Home insurance and next year will put breakdown cover with them for the van. Excess a little high for windscreen on car a couple of weeks ago but hopefully don't need a screen very often.
