Lucky

The rider could benifit from some training, his road positioning was dreadful and was a contributing factor

I wouldn't have got away with that one. Had some close ones but not that close.
I can remember coming round a bend at some speed and found a horse and trap happily trotting along at 10MPH! That was a surprise ----- and how good my brakes were.

What a bell end, but a lucky one.!

riding at over twice the speed limit, the rider needs prosecuting for dangerous driving and a 5 year ban

In his favour: a cool head, no panic braking, and a very accurate steer for the only escape route. Not many motorcyclists could have done what he did. He has lived to learn from it. It is worth noting that very few riders of high powered motorcycles are 'young'. There are considerably more riders killed or seriously injured in the over 40 age group than under it.

Any half decent rider on modern machinery could stop the bike in the 4 seconds between the lorry coming into view and them reaching it. He was 'only' doing 85 at the time. The biker hardly scrubbed off 30mph. The road positioning didn't help but was a minor failing compared to the lack of braking.

The nearest I ever came to that was on the lanes of France,it was haymaking time and was aware of the tractors and had a friend behind me.
We were making good progress when taking a sweeping left was faced with a round hay bale rolling towards me.I braked missed it and then right across the road was the tractor, trailer and half the bales in the road.
Luckily I wasn't going half the lick of that loon and had time to signal my mate behind and we just trickled round the mess, scary though.

My Mum used to Compère local shows war time & after (she had a concert troupe) One of the old jokes she used to tell, shortened version "A farmer & his workman in a tractor pulled out the field gateway right in front of a sports car the car swerved into the field to miss the tractor, the workman said bloody lucky us wernt still in that gateway boss";)

M/C very obviously travelling at a speed totally unsuitable for the distance visability, no matter what the speed limit. You should never travel any faster than you are able to stop within the distance you can see. I'm not a motorcyclist myself but that is obvious whatever you drive.

The lorry driver is totally fault free, he would never have been able to see the m/c before he pulled out. But if their HAD been an accident, who would have got the blame?

Would have been interesting to see the subsequent "conversation"!

There is something bugging me about that video.

1. Front and rear cameras.
2. The cameras are locked to the horizontal.
3. How does that speed indication work ?

Very unusual.

dont worry about skidmarks inside the leathers, they were full of crap to begin with

I definitely didn't when I was a yoof
Yeah, yoof eh.

An old mate of mine has broken more bones than Barry Sheene ever did and he's still riding like an idiot even now in his sixties.....and he still doesn't think
....'what if'

have heard so many people say that they ride in "Lucky leathers" but they were not lucky for the first owner (the cow got shot in the head)

I thought that.

The fancy speed indicator graphic has obviously been added afterwards so there's no way to know how accurate it is or even if it's got any basis in reality.

To me it doesn't look like he's doing anything close to the speeds shown in the graphic.

Still too fast to stop for the truck.

Think it was pure 100+% luck he didnt even seem to react just had enough gap to get through. What a knob!I ride around peak district a lot (steady old dude on a deauville) and regularely see a rider forcing a car into side of road when overtaking. Not as I wasnt a knob at times (50 years ago ) when I started riding but bikes wernt as fast then and less traffic.I also learnt it hurts a bit when you come off!!

Never have I seen such a bunch of self righteous statements in all my life,,

I was thinking what a good rider he is.. Road position was not bad and conditions were good

Still, I expect you are all perfect, never speed, never make a mistake, and could have dealt with the situation with the same skill as was demonstrated...

Don't bother replying .. I will not see it
