Lubricants for hinges with bushes?

Our door and external lockers have hinges with bushes (teflon/nylon?).

What is the best lubricant? Silicon spray or other?

Should one remove the end caps and spray inside or externally?

Silicone works well, PTFE spray even better.
I wouldn't remove the end caps as you might not get them back on. The lubricant should work it's way in.

Those types of bushes don't generally require lubrication.. they are self lubricating.. but a spray with PTFE will help reduce wear.. I wouldn't remove end caps .. just spray on the hinges

Ive used ptfe,silicon and some spray graphite oil. Easy to spray in gap and work hinge up and down

WD40 does it all.

It is not good practice to use petroleum based lubricants such as WD40 on plastics. They can make the plastic "grab" the other component(s).

Silicon and PTFE lubricants are far superior.

Aldi have GT85 lubricant spray in at the moment, it's my go to for most jobs and I think better than WD 40 ?

I accept your "generally", which is why I wanted to lubricate, but with correct one.

All done now, so hopefully prevention is established.

I do find it strange that, despite the many posts on with counter information, how many people come up with the same response of suggesting WD40 whether for lubrication, cleaning contacts, removing sticky glue, etc, etc, etc, Invariably there is something much better, and frequently, as here with plastics, it can cause an awful lot more problems than it solves. I have can's of it and use it for certain things. It's great for removing rusty nuts and bolts for example, but it's not the panacea to every maintenance task many seem to believe.
