My Autosleeper Cotswold has a tank that I can fill with LPG, and as it’s getting harder to find a station to fill up, also being told it’s being phased out in the next few years. Can I change over to bottles of LPG Instead of the tank I have on my vehicle ?

Assuming you mean underslung tank.
Not familiar with your moho and did it come with a fitted tank?
If so do you have anywhere to put bottles.. they do take up a good bit of space and need a proper lined and vented stowage area

I've never had any trouble filling my LPG tanks, there's plenty of outlets around, easily found using any of the available apps.

It would seem that getting bottled gas is the issue.

I have just added an LPG tank to my van! The reason is that we retired a couple of years ago and mostly will tour on the continent where you cannot buy calor, so if you run out of calor you have had it. I used to have 2 * 6kg calor and now have 1 * 6kg calor and 1 * 11kg LPG. Yes it's true lpg seems thin on the ground in the UK but I think its a lot easier to source on the continent.

You won’t have a problem, there are over 150 ships full of LPG hanging about near UK ports waiting to get in and unload.

The rehctub .. I have an underslung tank and as stated above top up when you see a pump..
Don't worry about availability of Autogas, Yes a lot of suppliers disappearing but IMV lots of needless scaremongering on this subject over many threads in past on this Forum.
The way I see it, the fewer suppliers means more business for those that remain.
Stick with your tank👍👍👍👍

Download all the lpg apps available. I have these 3 on Android....

Get in the habit of topping up whenever (within reason) you see a filling station selling lpg.

You'll have a few embarrassing moments when you can only squeeze in a couple of pounds worth ::bigsmile:

Get in the habit of checking the illuminated price board at the entrance to filling stations. If they sell lpg, it will be priced there.

Good Luck!

They are not going to phase it out. It only seem to be the larger garage chains are dropping it.
Fill up when you are in Europe - no shortage at all and its cheaper. It was 52p a litre last week
I still don't have any trouble here either - download - myLPG.eu - for your local stockist

If you decide to go ahead with change I will gladly take the tank system off your hands.

What I used to do... however found quite a few places selling Autogas did NOT have it on the price board...!

We are thinking of fitting a LPG tank, to our Ducato day van. We have a Truma gas hob and oven, also wanted a BBQ port. We have a diesel heater fitted, now thinking it may not be a good move if LPG is going to disappear or become very hard to find. Where the Gaz bottle is currently located it’s difficult to access on the move, I was hoping to make it a bit earlier and cheaper to use. May have to have a rethink!

So so very glad I fitted an underslung system to our Boxer day / 5 week van we also have one x 6 kg bottle on board for reserve use only, you will get used to finding LPG on your route away from your base or route home to base or a goggle search when out and about and top up when up see it, And when in Europe it’s the obvious easiest way top up as and when you have need it.

Thanks, might do a bit more research. Currently there are a couple of garages within 20/30 miles of us.

You can get a hose bottle to fill point, for emergencies, and carry a small 4-5kg bottle. Since I got mine couple of years ago, I never used it. You can get a small 3,6kg propane or 5kg butane and connect that to your fill point. This bottle can be stored inside without a vent cupboard as you don’t dispense from it. The underslung is best set up you could get.

Thanks for all the advice, now know the difference between LNG & LPG🤗
I think we will go down the underslung tank route. We have a local installer Autogas 2000 will talk to them.
