We’re going to France from the ferry at Newhaven on Wednesday. We need to fill up our Alugas bottle and although we have an LPG app that supposedly shows availability of gas, we’ve often found that when you get there, there is no pump, or no gas or the pump is broken.
We’ll try and fill up at a garage near York currently shown to have LPG but was wondering if there is a reliable supplier near to Newhaven.
Thank you.

Depends on your route to Newhaven.

We live East of Maidstone (and use the Newhaven Ferry). Our nearest LPG fill up is on the London Road (A20) West Malling, West of Maidstone and only 5 minutes from junction 4 on the M20. Filled up this week for 94.9ppl. It is an independent with a pretty impressive large store that includes fresh produce and a bakery, ideal if you want to ‘top up’ supplies as well.

AA route planner shows:
York to Newhaven 5 hours 4 minutes / 287 miles
York to Newhaven via West Malling 5 hours 31 minutes / 284 miles

If you're coming down the A23 towards Brighton to join the A27 there's a BP garage at the large roundabout at Patcham where you would turn off onto the A27 which is my usual place for LPG.
See location on website here:

On second thoughts, if you're going to France and you're not completely out of gas then there are way more LPG pumps over there than here. A couple of the big hypermarkets at Dieppe have LPG pumps.

Good call! When we returned from France in June we refilled just before the crossing (slightly more expensive though)
