We have two Gaslow cyclinders fitted in our motorhome and are off to Morocco for a couple of months (as long as we like it😀)
What are our cheapest options for obtaining gas once there? I really don’t want to carry another cylinder with us but is that the only option and get it changed in Morocco when it runs out.
Unless of course lpg is freely available which I don’t think it is.
Thanks

You wont find an LPG pump in Morocco. What most people do is get as much as possible in at Los Barrios and once they're getting down that feed in a Moroccan bottle via a decent quality bottle regulator with a french thread, through the bbq point, keeping the bottle outside.

The other option is to ask them to refill one of your bottle by hanging one of theirs up and connecting them together. The downside of this method is that Moroccan gas contains a lot of oil which some of the bulkhead regulators dont like.

Don't forget, the ehu supply is not great either, so if you don't have much solar then a voltage stabiliser is a good investment.

Great place to visit this time of year though, we crossed yesterday, having a lazy day at Asilah today. Weather very pleasant, looking forward to it getting warmer as we progress south.

The other alternative is to buy the Gaslow/Gasit adaptor to attach the Moroccan bottle via the refill point with an inline filter if you prefer. We’ve done this for 3 trips and it’s worked well, the upside being Moroccan gas is cheap as chips.

We did 90 days last year, we mostly stayed on sites as they are so cheap including electric. Never had a problem with Moroccan electric and only used a couple of litres from our Gaslow bottles.

Buy a gaslow adaptor hose and when in Morocco buy a camping gaz type cylinder and a screw on adaptor. They are sold everywhere. This fits the gasllow hose and when you run one botle down just connect a local camping gas type bottle .they are around 40 to 45 dirams which is £4 ish. A refill exchange is 10D.thecscew on adaptor is around 25D.
You can also buy a single burner that screws on the bottle for around 45 d .OK when your pitched up and want a brew.

We had no electrical issues apart from in Chefchuan when the power was too low for even the fridge.

We used to plug in before we had an almost new Bavaria parked right next to us start smoking at Sidi Kaouki about 5 years ago, turned out Ehu had fried the 12v charger.

We were at Sidi Ouassay 2 years ago (not plugged in) came back in and they had had a surge, killed quite a few fridges and actually sent phone chargers on fire. 1st hand on both occasions. If you're sat there and you can hear the fridge ignition cycling, it means the voltage is not good.

Up to you guys but dont say you weren't warned.

We've in Morocco for our second year at the mo. The 1st year we stayed on sites a lot which saved a lot of gas as we were hooked up for the fridge and had campsite showers and washing up but this time we have new off grid set-up and haven't had hook-up at all. despite being careful with gas we've gone through a whole bottle in a little over 2 weeks. Mainly on the fridge but also showers. We bought a small Morrocan gas bottle each time which we bought a burner for and also connected our BBQ to but after seeing the thick, black, sooty mess it made of the inside of our weber I'd be very dubious about putting the Morrocan gas anywhere near your gaslow system.

We had no trouble with our 3-way Thetford fridge while on EHU in Morocco.

We have just spent Christmas and New Year at Camping Albufeira, the troublesome Thetford stopped cooling with no errors or ignitor clicking whenever the EHU dropped below 200v. It actually went as low as 193v!

It'll be a compressor fridge purchase this year.

The electrics in Sidi Kaouki were very flaky. Very glad we had the Sollatek AVS30 fitted before we went last year.

If you buy the Gaslow Calor hose before you go then in Maroc buy a 16kg bottle. The thread is the same as Calor and the other end screws directly into your filler point. Okay you'll have to stow the bottle while travelling but we didn't have any problems. Bottle lasted us 4 weeks of mainly off grid, electric can be, as above, a bit tricky!
We have a proper in-line gas filter and it came back clean as a whistle. Maybe it's the little bottles that are dodgy!
Quite jealous as we love Maroc but it's now too much hassle and expense with the dog. Enjoy.

We’re here at the moment, and have been since Tuesday, went down the Med coast for bit and now in Asilah as a tad warmer than the Med, first time on a site purely because I wanted to service the van etc etc, not hooked on electric and using solar, but have bought a spare Spanish bottle with me as didn’t want to risk the gas either - filled up with LPG before we crossed on Tuesday
