Help needed as living/working away from home in my van and all systems have shut down!

From what I have learned the system has a preservation mode when leisure battery hits low voltage. Basically control panel detects low voltage and slowly limits habitation functions.

I am unsure why this has happened as lithium leisure batteries are well charged (13.5v).

Control panel is indicating low battery alarm and accordingly nothing working.

I have tried disconnect and re-connect power several times without success. Connections are good to control panel wiring loom ?remotely located).

Is anyone aware of a reset sequence for cbe control panel with this feature? Fitted to 2007 N&B Clou Liner.

Thanks for any help,

Paul.

Hi Paul

I would say that you are right about the CBE having a progressive shut down to protect the batteries and like you I would be confused as to why this would happen with a full charge on your batteries, does the control panel actually show the correct voltage?

I know that John Russell has recently had an issue with the control panel on his Clou although older than yours, I believe his issue involved a small battery on the back of the control panel, I don't even know if yours will have this component but possibly worth a search.

Is the battery definitely connected? Stupid question, I know. But I flummoxed myself for over an hour. Lithium app said healthy voltage. Van electrics kept browning out. Turns out an over stretched wire had popped out of its crimp, so the battery was completely isolated and the power I was seeing was from my solar.

Dear Funfair,

I will check the back of control panel again (as double checked connections) to see if a battery is present but don't recall one there.

The display is showing low voltage despie batteries and tails connected to cbe wiring loom all showing 13.5v The low battery and a battery symbol with 10 inside also shows (this being the 10amp low voltage shutdown warning).

I do have a slight complication to my system in that I have a second battery bank. This was the original lead acid leisure battery (200ah) connected to the second alternator (necessary as vehicle is 24v). I left this in place and use it as a way to power my dc/dc charger.

Initially I thought this may have run down having been parked up for a few weeks and have some link to the cbe panel. Given that battery is showing 12.7v it can't be the issue.

Panel is seemingly frozen. I get illumination of buttons when pressed, water pump, gas valve etc. but nothing happens. Lights all dead and marine toilet not working.

I think I may need to perform some kind of hard reset bit no idea if this is possible.

Thanks for taking time to reply.

Hi Guigsy,

It's an easily overlooked aspect so thanks for pointing it out but no, I have taken voltage from the connection node on the cbe wiring loom so power is there.

Best, P.

Might be that only the older system has the backup battery, you might want to check in the control box and make sure that the control card is firmly in it's slot.

This is the recent thread but older Clou, older CBE and most likely a different problem but you might glean something. https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/control-panel-failure.280253/#post-5559077

This could be a bit more reading for you ;) https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...-panel-cbe-distribution-unit-fuse-box.191745/

Lots of good info,

Seems a troubling subject for a few. On closer inspection I do have the battery attached to control panel however no sign of leakage and had good voltage.

Fiddled with a few connections and tried disconnect, leave 20 min, reconnect without any joy before giving up for the night and wiring a temporary fused live to both water pump and marine toilet pump as well as activating sos lighting circuit to make van habitable.

Got up this morning and no low voltage warning! Panel showing leisure battery as almost fully charged (can't read voltage as some lcd issues display, see my other posts re repair/replacement).

The lights which operate on the toggles are all fine however the contact switch circuits don't seem to have come back to life as yet. These were the first to be shut down by the system.

Will see what if any developments on return this eve or maybe over weekend, perhaps check some light circuit fuses.

Still a little concerned in case it happens again but for now some relief that I am not immediately trying to replace the N&B custom version cbe control panel.

Thanks for all help and advice.

Wouldn't it be great if you could just go to bed and these things would have fixed themselves by the morning  anyway pleased it's a bit of and improvement, it's as if it genuinely believes the voltage is low.

Unfortunately it seems "self healing" was not a full recovery. Just discovered no activation of auto gas valves despite indicator lamp illuminating.

Given the fact that the lcd display has degraded and is partially unreadable it may be time to get a new panel. Does anyone know the model number and or have any tips as to whether/where replacement may be available?

Thanks.

You may find that Apuljack Electronics can repair this, or supply a replacement. The LCD thing might be an easy repair. I had a meter with a dodgy display screen, and I bought another one. Then I took the old one apart and found the screen was connected by one of those multi-way connectors that are just pressed to make contact. When I repositioned it a bit, the screen started working, and has worked fine since.

Thanks for tip. Will try these guys for repair if I cant find replacement but screen issue is lcd bleed opposed to a connection issue.
