How have funsters overcome this issue ?
have a Pace 12 volt sky Digi box in the van,
and since BBC went HD only have lost the HD channels,
my question is,
are there 12 volt HD compatible sky boxes available.

I think if you google the change over a lot of the media list all the models numbers affected. Especially all the Pace boxes.

There is a quick hack that will tell you if your kit is OK. If its SKY branded, goto channel 105. If this is Channel 5 HD your equipment should get new BBC HD services. If it's SD channel 5 then you need to upgrade apparently.

These little boxes work well. I have not tried one on 12V in a van but the mains adapter that comes with it does output 12V DC and is rated at 2A. Worth a go providing it's happy with up to 13.6V - 14.4V on a full/charging leisure battery.

Also available in Argos.

NOTE. It's not Sky, just FreeSat. Manhattan SX Freesat HD Box.

We have one for our motohome. It works very well connected to 12 volt.
It is happy with any state of charge with AGM or Lithium.
And it works when on the edge of the UK satellite footprint.

If you can, look for channel number 801.

I have no experience of this device but it does appear to support terrestrial HD tv as well as satellite and Internet tv.

It does not say HD satellite, so it may not do BBC channels.
And no Freesat TV guide.

Another vote for the Manhattan SX Freesat box here, but obviously doesn’t help with Sky specific channels. We had the old Pace 12v receiver which worked well in its day, it’s probably survived far longer in the field than Sky would have expected. Presumably that Pace 12v box is now well past the point of designed obsolescence though, especially now as certain key SD channels are phased out?

It says fully DVB-S2/MPEG-4/H.264 decoder, these are designed for broadcast services including standard and HDTV, interactive services including internet access. As I said I have no experience of this device, i'm sure the OP can investigate if it suits his requirements or not.
