On the back of carolyn 's post, I wonder if anyone can recommend companies that do MH tours, please? I prefer quiet, peaceful times rather than adventure type things. I've never thought about this before but it might help to get my confidence up :)

Thank you :)

GB motorhome tours are brilliant. We tend to do their adventurous ones but they do a good variety. Some are much more relaxing. They have a maximum of about 15 vans. They didn’t used to accept dogs but do on some now but I think you have to contact them in advance to check on suitability.

We’ve done 3 , are booked to do Romania and Bulgaria this year and have already booked to do Iceland next year.

I’d look carefully at the Itineraries as I’m not quite sure how quiet and peaceful you mean as they are a group thing. They aren’t cheap but we think they’re very good value.

We have done 3 tours with motorhometours.co UK and you can do what you want. They will also take a 9 metre motorhome we have just come back from Norway with them and going to Poland shortly.

hi, do you have a web address for these folks? A google search only brings up an insecure web site.

It'll just be their SSL certificate. The site is secure to visit. Just don't enter any info. If you want info, email them separately or call them until they get the certificate sorted.

There seems to be a temporary glitch with their website.
I just had the warning about their website but ignored it. You'll enjoy Iceland although we've only had a couple of days there on a cruise. Hitrshals is a nice little town with a few things to do before boarding. If you want any info on your Faroes stopover . . .

That's only because their SSL certificate expired 1 day ago and Google throws a wobbler. If you click advanced you can get through

I’d agree with carolyn about GB Tours. We went to Greece with them this year and found the efficient and well organised. They included a great deal on our trip, from coach tours with guides to group meals. Travel between sites usually had options from mountain roads or dual carriageways. We found it busy but with three or four nights on many sites there was time to relax. A very enjoyable experience and we’d use them again.

just looking
I follow this chap on FB…he does small escorted tours….really well thought out and look amazing. He’s just done one of Northern Spain which looked so beautiful. Gets really good reviews. He’s a travel writer the rest of the time. Definitely worth a look if you’re looking for smaller friendly groups.

Crossings do fantastic tours all over Europe at very reasonable prices. The fact that 90% of their customers return for another tour says it all!

enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
I am surprised by the prices charged for these tours .... Especially if you pay for your own crossing (and of course fuel!)

I don't doubt that most people who have used them, think they are value for money, but I wonder if it's the benefit of travelling as a group and not on their own that appeals, which is perfectly understandable.

I do think that some of the posts made by members on here (suavecarve to name but one) where they show the route travelled and where they stayed could be just the remedy for those unsure. Even better if anyone who preferred to travel as a Funster group got together via a posting on here?

We are currently in Holland and could easily put together a route and sites/Aires to stay at for a week or so of travel in Holland, with places of interest, if it would be of benefit? Won't be as good as the offerings of other more experienced travellers but might help those taking their first steps or wishing to travel as a group?

I’m surprised it took this long before someone pointed out how expensive the tours were and how much cheaper it could be done by following the route on your own. Anyone would think we were dumb. Some of us just happen to like the tours. Nick and I do plenty of travelling on our own in Europe but there’s no way we would have contemplated spending 7 weeks travelling to Turkey and Cyprus on our own. It was tremendous fun in a group and I bet we saw and did things some people would have missed as we had a Turkish tour leader.

We wouldn’t have done Norway on our own 5 years ago either and we wouldn’t feel confident doing Iceland and the Faroe Isles. We’d return to Norway happily but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Tours aren’t for everyone but nor are Rallies. Just accept other peoples’ choices, they’re not inferior, just different.

I accept that for some they are not just different choices, but for some people, they are probably the best choice. I'm sorry if it came across in a way it wasn't meant to

I was just wondering if it was the travelling as a group was the attraction and whether anyone would be brave enough to put themselves forward to guide others, if only for a week or two....... If I could get SWMS to go to Morocco for instance, I'm sure it would only happen as part of a group travelling together!!!
