Looking for ideas

I know , pic up the map and look for yourself but ….

Thinking of a 8 week trip starting from calais and it has to take in northern Italy (as nipper lives there ) and probably southern Italy (as we ain’t done it yet) . Was thinking about skirting the coast of north west and south france and picking out places along the way.

We will leave early March. Although have traveled through france quite a bit we can’t say we’ve , done it .

So if you had 8 weeks ish , what would you do ? Btw we love scenery and don’t like big towns

I wouldnt be touching North West France from Calais en route to Italy.

I would still be going directly either via Germany or France but choosing how I want to cross the Alps in March.

I would head down to as far as you feel you want to end up in Italy for the increased likelihood of warmer weather and then slowly come back.

There will be numerous things to do on the way down and way back

Just reread this, are you on about the North west coast of Italy (cinque terra ?) and the South of France (Provence)?

So to clarify I wasn’t after the fastest route down as we did the Germany route this year - we were after a route with interest but going west from Calais then south to along the Atlantic coast and then following the Spanish border and across the south coast of france is at least 30 hours of driving - maybe a tad too much .

Ultimately we will end up in mantova - near Verona
