Looking for recommendations for a reasonably priced OBD reader.

I'd like to be able to read codes, e.g. reason for check engine light and get info e.g. AdBlu level etc.

Interested in user views.

Thanks

Most cheap scanners will read generic powertrain codes, but you may need something more capable to start reading adblue levels/ values/ real time data etc . Consider Multiecuscan or AlfaOBD, but bear in mind that your vehicle probably has a security gateway fitted being model year 2021. Best speak to these guys who will advise you https://www.gendan.co.uk/

You need to know if you have the secure GateWay I believe as if you do unless you have an account with Fiat you will only be able to read codes and not clear them.

As Sleeveless says above speak with Gendan.

Under EU law the Secure Gateway is actually not legal, for OBD ,, but the big companies are still using them .

Really? Can't see why not so long as they allow anyone who is qualified to have an account?

yes but it must be free open access so that cant charge for it ,, of course some OBD readers are so cheap they can only read the codes but cant delete or reset and more expensive ones have far more parameters ,,

and older software before 2013 in some vehicles despite being OBD may not work even worse before 2001 when OBD was unregulated

Thought Gendan offered an additional cable to work around the security gateway?
On the latest models you have to log into fiatweb site to change anything as far as I know.

The SGW is not illegal!
First locate the diagnostic port. Determine if it's pre or post SGW. Probably post, so you'll need a bypass.
2022 Series 8 is the cut-off where the gateway gets embedded in the BCM. This is where access via Fiat is required
Go onto the Fiatforum and get a clearer understanding.

Alfaobd is the best option of you don’t want to carry a laptop for MultiECUscan.

Yours will almost certainly be bypassable ,with the plug in bypass lead the SGW is located on n/S under floor mats, lots of info on tube and other forums ,MES is the best by far and if you buy a set of leads and have ideally a laptop a free to try ( function limited) version is available.
