We’re in the market for a swing open style bike carrier for our not-yet-purchased E Bikes, for our Fiat Ducato. We are currently considering a £2,450 quote for a Van Star E-Cross Swing Open 2 bike carrier from LNB Towbars in Bristol (we are Devon based). Any suggestions for a cheaper, but just as good, type of bike carrier? We have heard of the Busbiker one from Holland but don’t know if it can be fitted in UK (not keen to travel to Holland to get it fitted). We haven’t got a tow bar at the moment.

I'm also looking for similar and the Van-star seems the best. I saw a busbiker on a van in Croatia this summer. What put me off was that it needed a hole cutting in the bumper. I saw a Van-star the previous summer on a Dutch guys van in Germany and he showed me how it worked. The only issue for me would be getting power to light board. The carrier is so low it blocks the registration plate. Does the quote you have had include electrical work? We won't be having a tow bar. The link below is interesting.

Thanks for your reply. We think it includes electrical work, but we’re going to check and I’ll report back. I think they said an extra £10 for a registration plate.

We had our Busbiker fitted in Holland. Had it 4 years now and very happy with it.
Glad you’re pleased with yours. It’s just the trip to Holland that puts me off!
