We have been travelling Europe during spring and autumn for many years now, usually for 6 to 8 weeks for each period. We have always had medical insurance cover on a multi trip policy. We now intend to increase our trips to 10+ weeks but can’t find a multi trip policy to cover us. Don’t want to take cover for 2 single trips so has anyone got what we’re looking for. Thanks.

Thanks, was that Motorhome insurance cover or personal medical cover or maybe both?

That was personal/medical travel insurance. The motorhome breakdown cover doesn’t have a trip limitation.
I‘m only up to speed on this having spent several hours exploring options today.

The Nationwide Flexplus account allows you to extend the max 31 days trip for an extra fee. That extension (e.g. 60 or 90 days) applies as many trips as you wish during the 12 month policy.
Hope this helps.
Just done this for us - We pay the £13 a month for the account fee which gives quite a few extras like multiple phone repairs a year for all the family
We went through the health questionnaire remembering I'm 70 soon and we wanted 90 day trips (pleural) and we BOTH have health problems
total cost £540 for the year

Compared to independent ones which will only cover a max of 62 days the cheapest of those started at over £700

That’s very interesting thanks. We’re 76 and 73 and fairly healthy so that package looks good. Much work to do tomorrow. Happy camping 👌

Just to give an update ive done 2 quotes this morning, one with my bank and one with LV. They both give me 90 days multiple trips and they both come out at around the £420 mark. The bank quote though requires me to upgrade my account to platinum at a cost of £12 a month. That does include other benefits but non that I really require. Thanks for all the replies and happy camping. See you at Malvern if youre going.

We have just extended our 31 days Nationwide cover (as mentioned above) to 110 days. The cost was an extra £80, so that works at about £1/day, just to give you some idea of cost.

I got a longer period with Avanti. Good website, happily didn't find out how good the cover was.

Post Office do a very competitive annual multi cover insurance.

AXA is a large French insurance company and offers travel medical insurance that is Schengen visa compliant at a very reasonable price. In fact, it is priced so low that it concerns me. Regardless, I have purchased it a few times but I have never had a claim so I cannot speak to how their service is. They offer single trip and multi-trip yearly policies. They request very little personal information.

Very strange company. Did a quote on multitrip for a week, a month and 3 months all came out at £560. only asked for basic details, not my age or medical details. They are pushing the Schengen link but I don’t see the point. Not for me I’m afraid.

The reason they're all the same is that the quote is for a year. It's a multi-trip policy good for a year.

Nowt whatever wrong with AXA who have had a UK presence for at least 35 years and I frequently used em for various clients. Medical insurance was always a speciality and when the NHS decided to offload the hospitals into hospital trusts - one of the companies who would quote - and there were not many to choose from!
